We are going to have a Puppy Adoption Party.
We are making a shelter out of a piece of cardboard with holes that will hold stuffed animal dogs that the children can adopt." They will be given name tags an adoption certificate with their name their puppy's name and date of adoption and a carrier (basket with handles) to decorate with dog-related stickers. We will play puppy-themed games: pin the tail on the puppy Your owner says game - like "Simon Says" but the kids will do dog activities like bark pretend to dig a hole or howl; hot milkbone (like "hot potato" with a dogbone-shaped plush dog toy - set to music of barking dogs Blanket puppies - all the kids will place their new puppies on a big blanket and make the blanket go up and down the owner of the last puppy on the blanket wins Dog biscuit search: we will fill a big box with packing peanuts and dog biscuits - find the dog biscuits painted a different color Cake and ice cream will be served in (new) small dog bowls snacks will be served in bigger (new) dog bowls. Cookies cut in the shape of dog bones will be some of the snacks. The children will also be asked to bring an item (listed on their invitation) to donate to the local humane society so they can help real animals in need too. We will put them in a big box and take a picture of the children with it and give it to the animal shelter with the donation."
