The DOG party for 5 year old
My youngest chose "The DOG" as her theme for invitations and decorations. I took the dog idea and ran with it. I included a slip in each invitation asking guests to bring their favorite stuffed dog for party activities. Activities included a Pet Care station where they could give their dogs a check-up with a Play Dr's set, A dog wash station complete with ribbons to tie on their dogs, I set up an exercise kennel and labeled it as "Claws & Paws Inn" after a kennel we used to use in North Carolina. The kids all wore fun foam visors to which I glued faux fur dog ears. We painted their faces to look like the dog of their choice. We made bracelets that included dog bone buttons. I printed certificates of acheivement to award the kids with a barking contest for loudest, yippiest, deepest, etc. barks. Signed by the judges: B.W. Bowser and Y.P. Rouff. For food, we had brownie bones (brownies baked in a cookie sheet cut with a cookie cutter) instead of birthday cake. I found "Scooby" bone shaped graham crackers. I served pretzel nuggets with sliced carrots as "Kibbles 'n Bits" in a (brand new) dog dish. I decorated the bathroom door with a poster of a fire hydrant and sign labeled "Dog Walk". Instead of singing "Happy Birthday" we barked the song.
