They say a dog is man (and child's) best friend. When my daughter turned two we threw a dog themed party for her.  The invitations were printed on laser paper covered with different types of dogs. The cake was made to look like a park with dogs playing on it.  I used a basic chocolate cake with a green area for grass decorated with very small stuffed dogs and plastic trees. Party fare included homemade dog bone cookies. Hats were dog ears constructed of felt. The kids  played a variety of games.  They played a water ball toss where a picture of a dog was mounted to a bucket of water. They also played a Simon says type game where they acted like dogs, including barking, rolling over panting etc.  The kids went home with dog beanie babies.
