PUPPY PARTY 4-6 YR OLDS For my daughter's 5th birthday she had a puppy party. We sent out invitations that resembled a doghouse and when opened showed a dog with all the party
information.
They sell premade Dalmation, the Dog, and pound puppy invites that can be used. Our theme was Dalmation puppy as this is her favorite movie. TABLEWEAR- We bought red plates and cups, drawing with a black sharpy paw prints and spots. On the plates I did the decoration on the edge only. I went to the dollar store and bought small dog dishes for each child and a few large for serving. I wrote each child's name large on the small dish and placed puppy chow for people in it. ( this is made with chex cereal, peanut butter, melted chocolate chips and powdered sugar) DECORATIONS AND PROPS- we had newspaper layed out at the front door and several boxes with shredded newspapers and my daughter's stuffed animal puppies residing in the boxes. We used poster board-several pieces taped together and cut out, to resemble a doghouse. The child had to crawl though the doghouse to get through my front door and to the party. It was removable so a parent would not need to crawl. I purchased dalmation spotted crepe paper from Birthday Express, it was with their dalmation themed items. Each child as they arrived received their puppy ears, collars, and face make-up. I used a black grease pencil to make the nose, freckles and mouth of a dog on the child. Stips of poster board about 2 inches wide with black spots were wrapped around the child's head for a tight fit. I then attatched black construction paper ears. I used a stapler for this and took the ear hat off before stapling it. the collar was colored felt about 1 inch wide that again I measured with the child for a tight fit. We simply attatched this together with masking tape in the back. GAMES- we played fetch with a brand new dog toy- I would throw the item in the air and the kids would attempt to catch it in their mouths. They had a barking contest and posed for puppy pictures. We gave out lootbags made ahead with white paper lunch sacks with dalmation spots drawn on them. Items for bags were homeade dog bone sugar cookies, dog stickers, and plastic dogs from the dollar store. At the end for wind down time, we watched 101 Dalmations.
