Like many little girls, my 5 year old LOVED babies. For her birthday, I threw a Baby Shower birthday party. The invitations had a baby picture of my daughter and said Our baby is
5!!
Join us for a "Baby Shower" to celebrate." Along with the party specifics we asked guests to bring their favorite doll or stuffed animal. The party decorations were easy - every party store has an abundance of baby shower decorations. I also printed baby pictures of my daughter and hung them on pink construction paper. The day of the party I put all of my daughter's doll furniture and accessories in our front room and the kids began by playing with their own "babies". Next we threw dozens of different colored baby socks into a pile and the girls had to see who could match the most pairs. The next game was hilarious. I bought a bunch of baby bottles and filled them with an ounce of juice. We gave a signal and the girls had to see who could drink the juice from the bottle first. You can buy the bottles at a dollar store if you don't have any leftover and be sure to enlarge the hole in the nipple to make it easier. For a final game we did a baby stroller relay race outside in which we divided the girls into two teams and each child had to put her doll in a doll stoller run down a course and around a cone then deliver the stroller to the next person. The kids loved the relay race. I made party hats (using a store bought hat for a template) out of pink and blue cardstock in a kids' size and in a doll size and the girls decorated the hats with baby-themed stickers while I got the cake ready. We got great photos of the girls and dolls with their hats on. The cake was a photo cake with my daughter's baby picture and once again "Our baby is 5!!" For favors I found small baby dolls online. This turned out to be a really fun and original party. "
