Baby Doll Birthday Party (6 year old):
My daughter wanted to have a Baby Doll Birthday Party for her 6th Birthday. We made invites on the computer, inviting each guest and her favorite baby doll to the party. I made doll-size burp cloths out of a cute flannel print on one side and plain white fabric on the other ahead of time. As the girls arrived, I gave them a piece of paper cut the size of the burp cloths. They drew a picture on it with iron-on crayons. I then ironed their pictures on the burp cloth. Then we played "Pin the bottle on the Baby." Next we had two relay races. The first was the "Stroller Race." The girls were divided into two teams. Each team had a doll stroller. One girl on each team put her baby in the stroller, ran to the end of the yard and back, then it was the next girls turn. Then we played another relay race. One girl on each team put on an apron, packed a blanket in a diaper bag, grabbed her doll, and ran to the end of the yard. Then she had to pop a balloon by sitting on it, stepping on it, or however she could. Then she ran back to her team, took off the apron, unpacked the diaper bag, and it was the next girl's turn. Next we played "Mom, Mom, Baby" (like Duck, Duck, Goose). Then we did a "Cake Walk." Rather than winning a cake, I purchased a set of baby items (bottles, lotions, bibs, diapers, etc.) at the store. I put all of the items in a basket. As each number was chosen, the girl standing on that number got to choose a baby prize from the basket. We kept playing until everyone won a prize. At the end of the party, each girl was given a prize bag with another baby item in it, a "Baby Bottle Pop", a pencil, eraser, and candy, along with the burp cloth they made. The girls had a wonderful time taking care of their babies throughout the party, and I had a lot of positive comments from parents. It was a great party!
