DORA EXPLORER PARTY! For our daughters 2nd birthday we had a Dora Explorer theme party.  My daughter loves Dora. The kids that attended the party were ages 1 to 12.   I made the 4x 6 invitations and printed out on white cardstock.  I found a border that had orange, pink, magenta, lime green and blue flowers with Dora at the top of the invitation and Boots at the bottom. I used 4 different colored envelopes (lime green, orange, purple and magenta) and found birthday stamps that had similar colors.  I ordered drawstring backpacks (assorted colors, binoculars, assorted whistles from Oriental trading company. I also made coloring books. For the younger girls (I printed out Dora's first coloring book from Nickjr.com and I made Bratz coloring books for the older girls and for the boys. I made Go Diego books. I used assorted color 3 ring report covers (clear front.)   I also made Dora bracelets using yellow pony beads with a button flower (assorted pack) and for the boys I used green pony beads with assorted buttons (soccer ball, football and basketball. They love it! For the decorations  Since I could not find clip-art images or pictures of Dora and her friends.  I scanned my daughters Dora playing cards and then enlarge the images. I then printed out the images in color of Dora, Boots, Benny, Tico, Glowy Star, Rocket Star, Diego, Swiper the fox, Fiesta Trio, Grumpy old troll, The Map, and  the backpack. I used assorted pack construction paper and glue each image.  I hung all the images on the wall.  I draped purple, green, orange and magenta streamers around the windows. Also, had Dora and Boots, Swiper, and Benny the Bull were dangling over the table.     I borrowed folding tables and chairs for the kids.  I used Dora theme table cloth.  I tied assorted balloons to each chair (green, blue, yellow, red, and orange, purple, magenta). Since I started planning months in advance I was able to get the Dora Theme plates, cups, napkins and purple and green folks cheap at Target.  For the adult table, I used a purple table cloth.  All the decorations added a lot of color.  Everyone love it! When the kids arrived we worked on decorating Foam Visors until all the kids arrived.  The Dora CD playing in the background. The food, pepperoni and cheese pizza, Juice boxes, 7 layered bean dip, chips and salsa, grapes/strawberries fruit platter and walnut pear salad for the adults. After we eat and danced around. I gathered the kids and told them that we were going to Treasure Island to find the missing treasure chest.  I handed out the backpacks which included a whistle, bracelet, and binoculars.   We looked at the map (from nickjr.com). I had three stops (Dora's House, Puzzle bridge and Treasure Island. I also added a picture of Swiper near the tree and Swiper no swiping and a picture of Dora and boots near the bottom that said We did it.  I told them to watch out for Swiper the fox and to say Swiper no Swiping 3 times. My niece dressed up as Swiper (Orange T-shirt with Yellow writing that said Swiper the fox, purple jeans, black mask, purple gloves and a purple bandanna   The first stop was Dora's house (which was tent with a tunnel). I told them that Dora left a treat at the end of the tunnel.  I placed lots of pinwheels and Star lollipops at the end of the tunnel.  Next, we took out the map and headed to our next stop Puzzle Bridge (I used a foam hopscotch numbered puzzle). The Swiper background music was playing.  Swiper swiped the numbers and the kids yelled Swiper no swiping.  Swiper then dropped the puzzle pieces and I told the kids we have to work together to put the numbers in the correct spot.  After the puzzle was put together then each kid would have to hopscotch across the bridge. After everyone completed, I gave got assorted color puzzle maze. I asked the kids is their anything in you backpack that would help us spot Treasure Island?  They yelled binoculars and then we spotted the Treasure Island Sign.  I told the kids to watch out for the sleeping big bear. I asked is their anything in your backpack that would wake the big bear.  They yelled whistles. I told everyone they all have to blow their whistles for the big bear to wake up. I removed the big bear.  I asked who has the key to the treasure box.  Everyone searched their bags and one lucky boy had the yellow key and placed the key into the key lock, it opened.  I placed Dora and Diego loot bags with stickers and Dora fruit snacks.  Most important, they found the Dora Pinata (pull string) we had the kids grab a few strings and count to 3 in Spanish and then pulled. The kids were happy and excited. I made the treasure box (used jumbo size DHL box) and print out lots of copies of the Dora pirate map from Nickjr.com. I glued the pictures to the box and then used brown construction paper for the handles, and the sides of the box and key lock.  I used a box cutter to make a slit for the key to fit into.  Inside the box, I had a picture of Dora and Boots that said We did it.  I had an inflatable palm tree and used a tan sheet as the sand for Treasure Island. We went in and had birthday cake from Safeway with Dora theme and ice cream.   All the kids had a great time and continue to play with the Dora tent and tunnel and Puzzle Bridge and played hide in seek in the treasure box. What a long day of fun.  Thank you for the ideas from this site.
