For my daughter's eight birtdday, we decided to have a Diva Red Carpet Event. The girls always loved dressing up, and we had accumulated tons of prom dresses, etc. over the past year or so, so we decided to throw a really cool dress up bash for her. We used our local club house and brought all of the prom dresses, etc.  If you don't have enough, ask around to borrow them because just about everyone has one or two bridesmaid dresses or prom dresses taking up room in their closets that they will give or loan you for the event.  Or, go to a goodwill shop or ebay.  You can sometimes get a great prom dress for $5-15 and use them for years for dress up.  We had 12 girls and about 20 dresses to choose from.  We set up a makeup station, and a hair station to do some simple make up and hairstyles. We let the girls snack on pizza and soda while they selected their gowns and got their makeup done (also, the girls can wear their own favorite Diva" dress if they like).  When everyone was dressed we took individual pictures pictures with the birthday girl and a group picture. Also we took "toasting" pictures with the girls drinking their "champagne" from plastic champagne glasses purchased from a dollar store.   We negotiated with a local limo company for two hours of limo service. If you have your party on a weekday (not Friday or Saturday) and have earlier hours you can get some pretty good rates.   Each girl sipped "champagne" during the limo ride which took them on a scavenger hunt throughout our town. They had a clue to the location and would guess the location.  When they arrived they would all get their picture taken at the location and get a "dollar store" goodie. The first included a little purse to carry other goodies in the second an autograph book in which they were to get autographs at the local theatre (a scavenger hunt location). The theater employees loved giving their autographs and posing with the "Divas" - check with the manager first and pick an off time (not when movies are starting or getting out). Each girl ended up with a purse autograph book and cute frame. When they returned we had purchased a plastic "red carpet" that we rolled out to the limo door.  As each girl exited they posed with the limo driver who was holding the door (white gloves and all).   They spent the rest of the evening doing karaoke and dancing while I printed out pictures for their frame.  It was a tremendous hit and the total cost for 13 girls was around $250 including limo rental food and goodies."
