Girl's WEDDING THEMED birthday party ages 5-10. All girls are fascinated by weddings, but at this age, they don't care about the groom at all--just the dresses, the cake and the PARTY.
INVITATION: parody a real wedding invitation printed from your own computer.
Have each girl dress as a bridesmaid or a bride--whatever costume they already have. ACTIVITIES: Throwing the bouquet(backwards,of course) to a prearranged target (plastic flowers with stems wrapped in ribbon work well). Can have a rapid fire toss-- each gets several bouquets to toss in certain amount of time with help from fellow partier, "A little more left!"; Pin the Ring on the Groom -- large drawing/movie poster of groom and girls must get ring on finger. Decorate a pair of white flip flops in "wedding attire". Group photos taken/arranged just like group photos at weddings. Have a mini-spa to get ready for the "wedding" complete with hair styling, makeup and fingernail painting stations. Make a veil with inexpensive fabric and head bands. Decorate a frame to put group or individual photo in with fake pearls, white ribbon, pink roses.FOOD: Cake is wedding cake you make-- have fun! Make a several layers (with a little help from the Wilton section of your local craft store).Use ribbons, bows, white candy--whatever!Can place bride and groom statuette on top! Can get fondant, but kids generally don't like the taste. Other food: chicken drumsticks, tiny cheesecakes, pastel colored mints,(think finger foods you can buy at Sam's Club) and of course fancy punch in pretty punch bowl served in plastic champagne glasses. Get out those serving pieces and utensils that have gathered dust! Do activities that make the formality of a wedding FUNNY-- like dancing crazy and freezing in place when the wedding march stops playing. Party stores have great selections of plastic and paper supplies that look great for a play wedding!! Hang white balloons and crepe paper! Throw rice or birdseed!! HAPPY WEDDING!
