Girl 10 years old Theme: Fashion  The table was decorated with placemats that looked like purses, which we cut out of different floral patterns of wallpaper. The cake was a "purse".  We made it out of 3 layers of pound cake that were stacked and separated by  layers of coolwhip (use tall toothpicks to keep the cake from tipping over). The 2 sides of the cake were shaved off, the top was more narrow and wider to the base, to give the cake a shape of a purse. The handle of the purse was made from a very thin and flexible wire. We poked different colors of gum drops through the wire to give the handle of the purse a beaded, colorful look. The cake sat on a cake stand in the middle of the table. We hung paper shoes, and purses from the chandelier and throughout the room.  We bought napkins and plates that had purses and shoes on them. The gift bags had purses on them and were filled with a purse for each girl to take home.  After pizza, the girls had a fashion show with various dress up clothes, music playing and a fan blowing on them. Presents followed the fashion show.  Then the girls painted their own fashion idea on a 16 x 20 canvas. An outline of a dress on a seamstress's body stand was sketched on each canvas. The girls then painted the sketched dress and stand as they wanted.  They added a pink ribbon and jeweled adhesive flower to the waist or where they wanted. Since the canvas was so nice, it was something that each girl could difinitely hang in their bedroom. A sleep-over followed. Invitations were a paper purse, which you pulled out a post card with party information.
