For my daughter's 4th birthday we had a dress-up princess party.
I made pink and purple invitations with a castle die-cut on the front, covered with velum paper and tied with a silver ribbon. Inside I printed the invitation information as if they were being invited by the king and queen (my husband and myself). I asked the little girls to wear their gowns and the little boys to wear armor. I put two long tables together and covered them with plastic purple table cloths. We used "gold" plastic silverware and plates. For the chairs to look like thrones I cut gold and silver poster board and taped it to the chairs. The thrones were all taller than the kids, so it looked precious. We decorated crowns, made their own puzzles (I bought these at a craft store), the girls had their make-up done, and the boys indulged in a sword fight (outside). There were three cakes, one was a castle for the party, and two princess doll cakes were for the family celebration. We took lots of pictures and it was the neatest party I'd ever done! I doubt I'll ever top it!
