Miss U.S. Pageant 9-14yr

July 2007

Kristin in Winnetka, IL USA

For my eleventh birthday I had a Miss United States Pagent. INVITATIONS~ For the invitations we used just some patriotic (flag/red white and blue) paper. In the invitation we gave each girl coming a state to represent. ( we did it by First letter in the name example- Katherine Kentucky) Then we also explained that each girl must bring a bathing suit, something for a talent, and an evening gown" ( a dress-up dress) They were also welcome to bring any accesories too(jewelry pursesetc.) The parent and siblings were also welcomed to come and watch. When the girls arrived we had turned our living room into our runway the sunroom into a dressing room my dad  into a pagent host my big sister and three of her friends into judges and handed each girl a girl a sash that my mom and I had made from a thick white ribbon and some sharpies. Two of my friends moms even offered to do make up for us. We all changed into our "evining gowns" and one by one my dad called us out and "told a little bit about each of  us" (he just made funny things up) Everyone look great! Two of my friends went all out with wigs and fake eyelashes! They looked soo funny and at first nobody could even reconize them!! Once each girl had gone down the runway we would all gather around my dad (in his tux and bow tie!) and took a picture. Next was the bathing suit round. We all went back in the "dressing room" and changed. Then once again my dad called us out one by one. After a while my friend and I had to help him out in describing the bathing suits!! (we took a picture after each round) Next round was the talent. Each girl came out and performed the talent they had prepared. Some of the girls had some really fun ones. (jumproping with her hands balancing lots of stuff and doing gymnastics moves were some of the funniest ones. One girl was bumping a volleyball for her talent and almost knocked over a lamp!) The final round was the interview. My dad called each girl out and asked them three questions. After we finished we had cake and ice cream and then my sister and her friends went upstairs and made their final decisions. When they came down they sat us all down and gave our the awards and the goody-bags that we had made. (just candy and little toys-nothing fancy!) Each girl was given a different award (best attitude funniest talent almost giving my mom a heart attack-that was the girl who did the bumping for her talent!)The awards were also-like the invites- were printed on white paper with a flag/patriotic border. Then my mom surprised us with autographed pictures of Miss USA 2005!! I didn't even know about this. But in the end my mom said that he had told a friend of hers about my party and he said he knew Miss USA and could maybe get us autographed pictures!!   That party was one of my favorite ones. Two years later and even to this day everytime I see one of those autographed pictures in one of my friends rooms I can't help but smile thinking of that party.   "
