When my daughter turned 7, we had a pink bridesmaid party.
All her little friends wore pink dresses to the party. The birthday girl wore a bride dress (her Halloween costume). I always have an opening craft to do while waiting for late arrivals. I purchased some bouquet holders (less than $1.00 each), and big bunches of silk flowers, which I cut into individual stems, and inexpensive ribbon. Each girl made a bridesmaid bouquet, which they took home. Each girl signed the guest book with a big feathered pen. We danced to wedding music (macarena, electric slide, YMCA, etc), and played pin-the-kiss-on-the-groom. I made a small tiered cake-with just a bride on the top. When it was time to open the presents, the birthday girl sat under the fancy shower umbrella (about 12.00 at a party store) and each bridesmaid pulled a ribbon and cascades of paper hearts fell over her head. For party favors, the girls had the bouquets they made, and also *crystal* (clear plastic) swans filled with candy, tied up in netting, with a ring attached. Two years later, the girls are still talking about it. You don't have to spend a fortune on a kid's party!!
