Egyptian Mummy Themed Party - 8 yr. old For my son's 8th birthday we are planning to have an Egyptian Mummy themed party. His birthday is in August so we are pretty much quarantined good
weather. The plan is to set up our large tent (sleep 8) in our backyard and decorate it to look somewhat like a pyramid with lots of pictures of mummies, pharaohs, sphinx etc... The party
will be in the evening (6-9 p.m.). The invitations will be worn, weathered looking scrolls tied with a ribbon. Inside will be a street map with our house marked with a pyramid. When the kids
arrive we will lead them into the backyard and play a variety of games like: mummy wrap (group the kids in twos or threes with each group competing to be the first to have on child fully
wrapped in toilet paper first - we will probably play this many times until each child has had a turn getting wrapped up); dig for buried treasure (we will have lots of plastic gold coins
buried in our sand box...the kids get to keep the coins plus will win a reward of chocolate foil wrapped coins for each plastic coin they dig up); treasure hunt (lots of clues which
eventually leads them to their goody bags. We will serve pizza, pop, chips & popcorn for dinner. We will run power & cable out to the tent and set up a TV & VCR in their where the
kids will watch a movie (either The Mummy or a Scooby Doo-mummy show). Our son will open his gifts in the tent and the meal will be served in the tent. The goody bags will be cardboard
pyramids (saw the idea in a parenting magazine) and the cake will also be a pyramid. The kids will be given glo-sticks in their goody bags as well as plastic glo in the dark spiders, the
plastic gold coins they collected earlier, mini skateboards and assorted candies.
