For my daughters second birthday party, she wanted a Sesame Street party. We made our own invitations. On the front, we put a picture of my daughter in her jeep on the top and a picture of Elmo at the bottom. We wrote, "Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street..." This was really cute because it looked like she was really on her way and Elmo was waving her down. On the inside, I blew up a picture of the Sesame Street gang that I had downloaded. Then I put a speech bubble by each of them and had them saying a phrase. Such as, Cookie Monster said, "Me love Birthday Parties" and Elmo said, "Elmo is waiting on you". I also added  the party info here (in the sky). On the back, I added the S.S. alphabet border (downloaded) and wrote: "This party is being brought to you by the letter K and the number 2." I printed them on CLOUD paper and used colored envelopes and let my daughter stick S.S. stickers all over them. Everyone loved them! For the party, I focused on 5 characters which meant 5 colors. Elmo (red), Zoe (orange), BigBird (yellow), Cookie Monster (blue),  and Grouch (green). For decorations, I always make the "picture place" my main attraction. I ordered a Sesame Street wallpaper mural and put in on Cloud paper (from Shindigz). On each side of the mural, I made banners that said: "Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street" and "This party is brought to you by the letter K and the number 2". What I was most proud of were my "lamp posts". I got a carpet roll from the local store, cut it in half (it was 12ft long), and spray painted them green. I then purchased two large styrofoam balls (for the lights). Then I added two signs made from green poster board and yellow letters saying Sesame Street. They turned out soooooo cute. I hung the left over cloud paper on the windows and on every blank wall space, I had a poster of each character that I had copied from a coloring book, blown up, and painted. To top it all, I had over 100 balloons EVERYWHERE! I had a BigBird and Elmo airwalker, a jumbo of each character, a jumbo K and 2, 2nd birthday, and 2 dozen solid in each of our 5 colors. My little girl LOVES balloons and they make easy decorations! (Most came from ClassicCelebrations) On the tables, I had 2 Sesame Smiles tableclothes and one solid of each of the 5 colors. On the tables, I had balloon weights, stuffed animals and name cards all of each character. I also purchased wooden blocks from Wal-Mart and spelled out my daughter's name and the number 2, then spelled out the characters, too. My oldest daughter was in charge of Games and Crafts. She did the BigBird Bubble Wrap Stomp. We made BigBird feet out of foam and added rubberbands. Then we rolled out Bubble Wrap and they stomped.(All kids like to mash those little bubbles)They got to keep their "feet" for the prize and a S.S. twisty toy. Then we went to Ernie duck pond. We filled a metal tub with bubble bath and birthday duckies (Oriental). We put stickers on the bottom and each child got to pick a duck with a Elmo sticker. For the prize, they got a bottle of bubbles and a duckie. Then we played Toss the Trash at Grouch. We had a metal trash can with a poster of Grouch behind it so that it looked like he was in the can. The kids threw balled up newspaper at Grouch and tried to ring the can. They LOVED hitting Grouch! They won a bag of Gummy Worms and a Grouch made out of a film canister, green pompoms and wiggly eyes. (These were so cute! Even the adults wanted one!) We also had a S.S. hopstoch, puzzles and coloring sheets that they could go to on their own. We even got the adults in on the games, since most of us remember S.S. from when we were little. I made a S.S. trivia game (found online) and gave the winner a rubber duckie bath poof. They also got to guess how many cookies in the cookie jar. THe winner, of course got the cookies and a mini plush cookie monster. For the food, I had an Elmo face cake and a sheet cake that I found at thepartyworks.com that had 4 of our characters in a parade. These were really easy to make. We had Elmo's favorite: PIZZA! I ordered S.S. juice boxes from NetGrocer.com since we do not have them in our area. We had PB and J sandwiches, cheetoes, veggies and fruit w/dip, C.C. cookies, RiceKrispie BigBird nests w/JellyBeans, a Cookie Monster Cookie, and cookies cut out in K's and 2's. For the party favors,I found S.S. foam puzzles on Clearance at Toy's R US, Elmo Sticker Books on Clearance at Michaels, and downloaded S.S. songs and made a personalized C.D. I tucked these into the puzzle bag and added ribbons! Everyone, adults too, also was surprised  with their very own "Dorothy" to take home! The party was a HUGE SUCCESS and lots of FUN to do!!!
