My son celebrated his second birthday this past weekend. He loves Sesame Street but his favorites are Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch. I rented our local ruritan club so I
had a very large room to set up in. We decorated with our sons Sesame Street toys(he has all of the mechanical Elmos and tons of other stuffed Sesame Street character) , streamers and
balloons in primary colors and some handmade posters. I made a sign that said Sesame Street. I made the letters yellow and glued them on green constrcution paper and then cut it into the
shape of the Sesame Street sign. I also made a sign that said Brought to you by the letter "B" (first letter in my son's name)and the Number "2"(he was turning 2). I hung
these outside so the guests saw them as they arrived. We used the Sesame Street Smiles line of party supplies(plates, cups and napkins). My son also wore an Elmo t shirt that was red
and had Elmo's face on it. I bought an Elmo face cake pan and made that. I also made cupcakes and made "B" s and "2" s on the tops. The party was at 2:00 so I figured most
would have had lunch by then. I served the normal chips and dip, bean dip and tortilla chips, homemade submarine sandiches, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cut into letter B's with a
cookie cutter, goldfish crackers (in honor of Elmo's best friend Dorothy), apple slices, chocolate chip cookies (for Cookie Monster) and juice and soda along with cake and ice cream. I made
the kids goodie bags filled with candy, sesame street sunglasses, sesame street whistles, stickers, play doh and a bouncy ball. While the guests arrived I had the Sesame Street theme
song playing (tell me how to get to Sesame Street). For the rest of the party I had the Sesame Street CD palying in the background. The kids danced and played. They played two games. For the
first one we filled a tub with water and put 5 rubber ducks in ( in honor of Ernie). Three of them had stickers on the bottom and the kids got three chances to find one with a sticker (this
way everyone won). When they did they won a prize, a bottle of bubbles. The second game was throw the trash in Oscar's can. I took one of our small household trashcans (like a bathroom can)
and covered it with aluminum foil and cut a cardboard top and also covered that with aluminum foil. I taped it to the back so that it made a backboard on the trash can. I taped one of our
son's plush Oscar the grouch in his can to the side of my trash can. The kids took turns throwing balled up newspaper into the trash can. They loved this!! They each received a barrel of
monkeys game as a prize. The barrels looked like little trash cans. Family and Friends attended this birthday party. I had about 10 kids who attended. They ranged in ages from 18 months to 9
years in age and every one of them had a blast! Even the adulst found themselves humming along with the CD player and laughing with the kids playign the games. I am defintely happy that my
husband and I went through the trouble. My son loved it and I will cherish the pictures always!
