For my daughter's 2nd birthday, we had a Sesame Street Celebration.  She loves Cookie and Elmo so they were emphasized with the SS theme. For invitations, I  used the ones from the store (Sesame Street ABC) which on the cover said "P is for Party". We had 12 kids ages 5 and under and 20 adults. As you walked up the driveway there was a huge sign made out of poster board with SS characters glued on and a bouquet of balloons attached, which read "Can you tell me how to get…..how to get to Sesame Street?" From there you read the following sign saying "Follow Big Bird's footsteps"  I taped onto our driveway a trail of Big Bird Footprint cutouts I made from orange construction paper. Near the front door I had another sign saying "Sesame Street THIS WAY(with an arrow pointing to our front door)" By the front door I made a Sesame Street Sign attached to a pole I made from large wrapping paper tubes.  On the front door I had a large sign with Elmo on it saying "Welcome to Deanna's Birthday Party!"  As you walked into our living room there were streamers and balloons everywhere with the primary colors of red, yellow, and blue. I made another sign for our living room with the SS characters saying "This Party has been brought to you today by the letter "D" and the # 2".    On our mantle I had all our SS dolls lined up with Elmo next to a small fishbowl with a goldfish in it and a sign saying "Dorothy, this is how we have a birthday party!"  On our console table we had a Cookie Monster Doll with a large plate holding a large homemade chocolate chip cookie with the letter "D" in red icing and a sign attached saying "C is for Cookie and D is for Deanna!" On the walls, I taped up large inflatable crayons I got from the Oriental Trading CO (OTC) and in one corner of the living room I taped off an area with white butcher paper and had a 3-D cardboard gingerbread house (from Wal-mart) with a sign saying ELMO'S WORLDI.  In the kitchen/dining area we had 3 tables set up and one children's table as the centerpiece to the room. The children's table was decorated with the SS (ABC) table cover and as the centerpiece I had a small tin box with ELMO on it (from Target) with a bouquet of balloons attached to it.  I also had small plastic (red, yellow, blue) bowls with pretzels, goldfish, and Alphabet cookies.  For each place setting I had printed coloring pages from the Sesame Street website and had written with markers the name of each child such as D is for Deanna, or I is for Isabella.  Each place setting also included a SS plastic cup with crayons in it. More balloons and streamers in this area as well and all major tables and surfaces were covered with red, yellow, or blue tablecovers.  The buffet table included adult food (tri-tip, salad, rolls, chili, and pasta salad) and the kids' food (fresh fruit, PB&J sandwiches cutout with basic shape cookie cutters, mini pizzas (Elmo's favorite food) and fresh veggies). For GAMES, I had the following:  Big Bird Bowling (I put Big Bird stickers on a cheap toy bowling set we had), Pin the Nose on Elmo (purchased at the party store), Cookie Monster toss (hot potato but with our Cookie doll instead and using the song from our SS CD "C is for Cookie", and finally we had Oscar's trash toss which was tossing newspaper into a large aluminum can I  made to look like Oscar's trashcan with a cutout of Oscar sticking out from it.  At each game they won a small prize I purchased from the OTC.  We also had a SS piñata, which was a hit! Finally for party favor bags, I decorated gift bags (red, yellow, blue) with SS wrapping paper I glued on. On top of that layer I glued a graphic I found from the SS website where each Alphabet letter had a SS character with it and added each child's name….D is for Deanna….I is for Isabella. In each bag, I had a SS coloring book (Dollar Tree), pkg of magnetic letters, small box of crayons, a rubber ducky (for Ernie),  a pkg of goldfish (for Dorothy), SS fruit snacks, and a small bag of chocolate chip cookies  (for Cookie Monster). At the end of the party I played Elmo's World Happy Holidays video for the kids to unwind. The kids had a blast and the parents did too (oh yeah! I forgot to mention I also had a SS trivia for the parents) which was fun when we started reminiscing about Sesame Street…… DO YOU REMEMBER how to get………how to get to Sesame Street? Thanks for reading!
