My son first birthday is in September and his birthday party was a hit. I planned to use the theme ELMO. I printed the elmo invitation using an 4x8 card with an elmo picture and my son as a collage. The invitation read Brycelan turning one. Come help Elmo share the fun. September 8th is the date. Come help us celebrate : try not to be late. The birthday party was held at the Southwest Events Center.I had my sisters and I play the role as hostess we wore red shirts with big eyes,a orange nose, and black eyes(Elmo Face). I decorated with the colors red, yellow, orange, and blue. I had those colors in balloons and streames througout the building. I had 8 tables and on each table I place a suvenoir cup stuffed with candy wrapped in the primary colors that I placed at the table for each chair. I also a used the 4 colors on the table cloths each table had a different color tablecloth, and centerpiece. For centerpieces I wrapped meduim to large boxes in the four colors. and glued alphabet and numbers magnets to them as well as Elmo pictures and crayola colors. In the center of ech box was a weight that held four of the same color balloons and a happy first birthday Elmo balloon.(the weights were not visible) I made sure that each table had all four colors on them. Ex red tablecoth, blue box, orange gift tissue in suvenoir cup(I used all four colors tying nots with the curling ribbon), and 4 yellow balloons.I had sesame street music playing over the sound system when the guests arrive. As each person entered the they had to guess how many cookies were in the jar.(Children and adults) I had two different tables set-up. Whoever gets the closest will be awarded at the end of the party. I also made tickets that looked like dollar bills all but one had a picture of Elmo in the center and four digit numbers, one of the tickets had a picture of my son.They tickets was placed on their shirts with Elmo stickers. The party was planned to start at 2:00.  At each table I placed Elmo coloring sheets and colors that I printed off the internet that was later placed in the time capsule that I made to be open at his 16 birthday. They colored until 2:15. We played 1 adult game(Place the Cookie in Cookie Monsters Mouth-I made it out of cardboard-the cookies out of construction paper). Then the children played Elmo's musical animal. Then everyone was surprise by two clowns. He made balloon animals and did a magic show for 35 minutes.After clown show we had prayer and eat.When we ate we had red plates, blue napkins, yellow cups, and orange forks and spoons. We then played 2 more adult games(Musical Chairs and Cake Walk) and 3 more children games(Oscar's Garbage Game, Elmo Musical Animal, Pick up the Duck-I purchased 5 rubber ducks from the dollar store and drew the letter B on two of them who ever picked a duck with that on them won a prize.We then began to sing happy birthday and start handing out cake when--Elmo walked through the double doors!!Surprise!!!Elmo helped eat cake, and burst the pinata. When we ate cake and cookies we used the Elmo World plates and napkins. Finally we done door prizes, we stated out by announcing the winners of the cookie guessing.We done door prizes for the adults and a few for the children. I started out with calling out the tickets that I given out as the adults were entered. The person that was given the ticket with a picture of my son won a 20 gift certificate from wal-mart. For the children everyone that was born on the same day or date as my some was given a prize. Finally I gave out favor bags. The adult had the long, blue bags and inside each bag I had fixed a cookie-in-a-jar(allrecipes.com) and I created a card from my son with pictures of him that read what do children mean to you.For the children they got red or yellow gift bags filled with colors,a Elmo coloring book, Elmo notepad,small pencil and candy. For the babies they got small orange bags filled with a sipping cup, a sesame street bib, and stuffed animal.  I thanked everyone for coming and allowed everyone to take pictures with Elmo.
