Since we are renovating our house, we had our son's 2nd Birthday party at the park.
He likes Elmo so much that we decided to have a Sesame Street theme party for him. We bought Sesame Street's invitations, paper goods, party favors, party hats, table covers, banners, decorations and piñata at www.eventspecial.com; they have lots of stuff on that site. We sent out invitations by snail mail and I also sent out an online birthday announcement via email. The online announcement was also done and designed by www.eventspecial.com but since they can not put sesame street graphics in my son's website - I sent them a picture of my son holding his Elmo stuff toy instead, they did it so well with sesame street color palette (red, blue, yellow and orange) and then they put photo album too, so viewers of my son's site saw how he grown. I bought sesame street shirts with Elmo's face which I wore, Ernie and Bert's face which I ask my two nephews to wear, Oscar and Grover's for my two sisters and Cookie Monster's face shirt for my niece. I found all of those at www.eventspecial.com at low prices too. The visitor's were so delighted to see all of us wearing those shirts, because it seems we invited all the gangs from the sesame street to the party. The party started at 12 noon. I decorated the park with balloons (red, blue and orange), sesame street's birthday banners and sesame street streamers. I can't afford Elmo to visit the party, so I invited a clown instead to entertain the kids, he does face painting, animal and flower balloon making and he does magic too. For games: 1) guess how many cookie's in the cookie monster's cookie jar. I bought a clear cookie jar and cut out cookie monster pictures and placed it inside with the cookies 2) Elmo says – like Simon says. 3) Journey to Ernie –we ask the kids to find the rubber ducky. 4) Pass the Rubber Ducky – like the Hot Potato game (everybody participated). 5) Pin the nose on Elmo - I bought red and orange felt and drew Elmo's face, and it was so neat). 6) The Fruit Shake – an adult game (apple – swing your hips left and right; banana – swing your hips front and back; grapes – wave your arms up high; orange – turn around). You have to say the fruit name so fast - like apple, apple, orange, banana ,banana ,grapes, orange and so and so until somebody mess up. This game is so funny because they all end up dancing and swinging. 7) Hit the Piñata. Everybody won a price, we gave away trinkets for non-winner and for real winners we gave away Elmo's beach towels, sesame street puzzles, Elmo's floaters and beach balls. After the games, everybody sang Happy Birthday to the birthday boy, and then he blew his candles. I bought a sesame st. cake at Albertson and it was so good. For the goodie bags, I bought Elmo bouncing mini balls, Elmo memo pads, Elmo memory game card at Kmart. I also bought play dough, kid's scissors and sharpeners at a dollar store and then I put Elmo stickers on it – just to go with the theme. And then lots and lots of candies. Everybody enjoyed the party and me and my son did too.
