We just celebrated my daughters' 2nd and 7th birthdays with a super fun Sesame Street themed party.  For starters, I purchased cute confetti decorated paper and Sesame Street character stickers at my local scrapbooking store.  I printed the invitation on the confetti paper and then decorated it with the character stickers and made color copies to send to everyone.  The invitation read:  Please join the Firebaugh family  and the Sesame Street gang as we celebrate Sarah & Kelsey's birthdays!  The fun begins on Saturday, February 1st from 2:30-4:30pm at the Firebaugh house (and our address) Please RSVP by January 25th  Sunny Day Sweepin' the clouds away on my way to where the air is sweet please say you'll come and play come and play at our birthday party! This invitation has been brought to you by the letters S & K and the numbers 2 & 7  On the day of the party, I decorated our front walkway with posters that I made up myself just using posterboard and paint. I wrote sayings such as: Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street?, Sesame Street this way - with an arrow pointing to the front door, Brought to you by the letters S & K and the numbers 2 & 7, etc. etc. I also tied a bouquet of bright colored balloons by the front door.  We also tied bouquets of balloons all around inside the house. When the children arrived (we had 19 between the ages of 1 & 8), they colored a goody bag. I set out crayons and white bags on a table for them and let them color at their leisure.  I also made up simple coloring books for each of them.  The front page said, "Sarah's Sesame Street Birthday Coloring Pages".  I purchased a Sesame Street coloring book from Borders Bookstore and photocopied various pages. I then 3-hole punched them and tied them with red ribbon. For games, we played "Oscar's Trash Toss". I bought a silver garbage can at a hardware store.  I enlarged a print from the Oscar's Stinky Birthday Party coloring book (found at Borders Bookstore) at Kinko's and taped it onto the front of the can. I set the lid to the garbage can on the ground and filled it with crinkled up pieces of paper.  The kids took turns throwing the trash balls into the can. We also played "Ernie's Rubber Ducky Toss". I set a stuffed Ernie in a baby bathtub and let the kids take turns throwing rubber duckies into the bathtub.  On a table, I had set up 2 guessing games.  One was "How many cookies are in Cookie Monster's jar?". I filled a glass jar with homemade chocolate chip cookies and had the guests write down their guesses. To make it look cute, I set a stuffed Cookie Monster on top of the jar. The other one was "How many goldfish are swimming in Elmo's fish bowl?". I filled a glass fish bowl with goldfish crackers and let the guests take a guess at the quantity.  I also had Elmo sitting on top of the fish bowl. The winners took home the jar of cookies and the bowl of goldfish. One more game was "Big Bird's Bubble Wrap Stomp".  I bought rolls of bubble wrap from a drugstore and spread them out on the floor.  I turned on some Sesame Street music and just let the kids dance and stomp away. It was great fun for them!    For party favors, I purchased individual boxes of Sesame Street graham cracker cookies at Big Lots. Each child received a box. They were also given a small bag of goldfish crackers, a rubber ducky, a few Sesame Street Bandaids (both purchased from Babies R Us) and a Sesame Street character lollipop (purchased off of Ebay).    We had an abundance of food since the party was for adults as well as kids.  For desert, I made the kids cupcakes baked in Elmo cupcake wrappers, frosted them with vanilla icing, and topped them off with an Elmo candy decoration.  We served them with vanilla ice cream and the kids loved them!  In addition to the games that I planned, I also rented a jumper/bounce house and blasted Sesame Street music outside for the kids to jump to. All in all, everyone had a wonderful time...kids and adults alike!
