Party Supplies

My son is OBSESSED with Elmo (Melmo" as he calls him)so that was an obvious theme for his 2nd birthday party. For the invitations I took a picture of him wearing his Elmo shirt sitting in his Elmo chair surrounded by all his Elmo toys which is quite a collection since Christmas was just here. Then using my Print Master program (one I HIGHLY recommend) I created the invitations. The front had the picture on it with clip art of crayons Dorothy and music notes and said "La-la-la-la "Melmo's" World..."Melmo" loves his goldfish his crayons too...". Then the inside read "Melmo's friend Mason is turning two!". I then listed the date and time. The place I put as "Mason's World" with our address and the RSVP was to "Mason's Mommy". More clip art followed inside and I used primary colors with the text. On the inside bottom I put "Elmo invites all kids to wear his favorite color...red! Actually most of the adults arrived in red too. Then on the back bottom of the invite I had a picture of Elmo and said "This party is being brought to you by the letter M and the number 2.  I created return address labels using a picture of Elmo with a cake and party hat and in the background is a February calendar. Most party supplies came from BirthdayExpress.com. It is very simple to have everything delivered in one box: Favor boxes (sticker sheet rubber duck Elmo ring superball notepad and crayons) plates napkins crepe paper balloons candles games and prizes. I decorated my house using the balloons birthday banner and crepe paper. Outside I hung a birthday garden flag and I made a poster board sign for the front door that greeted guests by saying "Guess what Elmo is thinking about today? (from Elmo's World) Mason's 2nd Birthday! Come in and join the fun!" With pictures of Elmo Dorothy and balloons. I took a poster from one of his coloring books and hung it up and then took out pages from the coloring books that he had colored and hung them on the walls in the living room kitchen bathroom and stairway. It made a cute personal touch from the Birthday Boy. I then typed up a bunch of Elmo Facts and hung them around. I tried to coordinate the fact with the placement. The adults really loved these! Ex. Elmo Fact: favorite fruit Bananas (this was hung on the banana tree). I used the following facts: 1st appearance on Sesame Street: 1984 (put on TV) Family: Dad Louie; Mom Gladys: Sister Daisy (put on family portrait) Favorite food: Pizza (put on box of pizza) Best Friends: Zoe and Grover (hung next to color book picture of them) Age: 3 1/2 years (hung on wall) Birthday: February 3rd (hung on calendar) Pet: Goldfish Dorothy (put on fish tank with goldfish) Dislikes: Brussel Sprouts (put on fridge) Full Name: Elmo Monster (hung on bathroom mirror) Scientific Name: Furrius Childus (hung with poster) Address: 3rd floor of 123 Sesame Street apt. building (put outside on the house number)  From Ebay I ordered stickers for the bottom of Hershey Kisses. There were 3 different Elmo graphics and said Mason's 2nd Birthday. I also ordered personalized scratched tickets that the kids loved. I ordered Elmo coloring books and whistles for favors. We also played "Stick the nose on Elmo" game.  For food I kept it very simple: Pizza hoagie tray pasta salad philly soft pretzel tray etc. The table was decorated with an Elmo tablecloth and centerpiece. I bought a plastic fish bowl from the pet store and filled it with goldfish crackers. Drinks for the kids were the Sesame Street character juice boxes I got at Sam's Club.   My friend made the cake. A round banana cake with white frosting and red trim. There were Elmo sugar-icing heads placed around the sides and I had cake toppers of Elmo Dorothy and Mr. Noodle for the top. All purchased from the Internet. She also made cupcakes with the Elmo cupcake papers. They were topped with white icing red sugar sprinkles and had Elmo rings pushed in for decoration.  Since there were only 2 other children besides my son I kept the games to only two and played Elmo DVD's for entertainment.   At the end the kids got favor boxes and the adults got lollipops that I attached printed cards to. The cards had a picture of Elmo and said: Mason's 2nd Birthday Party February 11 2007. "The party is over I'm officially two. Thanks for coming it was so nice to see you! Here is a treat for you from me... see you next year when I turn three!" I used standard business cards and hole-punched them and then weaved the lollipop stick through.  For thank you cards (using my Print Master again)  I took a picture of Elmo for the front with text that said " "Melmo" says....thanks for coming!!" Then using a fill in the blank format for the inside so all I had to write in was the person's name and gift. I had Mason "write" his name on a piece of paper and scanned it into the computer and used it as the signature for the card.   It was a small simple party that was enjoyed by all. It had easy ideas with personal touches.  "
