My little boy's first birthday was July 21st, and I decided on a Sesame Street theme because he loves Elmo and dancing along with the Sesame Street music. I made invitations on my
computer which looked like the Sesame Street sign and said, "Connor's turning One, Elmo says come join the fun!
It had all the party info, and then said "Brought to you by the letter C and the number 1." I decorated with Sesame Street first birthday plates, cups, tablecloths, etc., and lots of colored balloons because my little boy loves to look at them. I also decorated with my son's Sesame Street toys, including a train centerpiece and stuffed toys around the house. Since most of the party guests were adults, I planned some adult games, including, guess how many cookies were in a jar, Sesame Street trivia, and C is for Connor, were guests had to list as many things that began with the letter C as they could find in the room. The prizes were Sesame Street gift bags which included Sesame Street cookies, a rubber ducky, a Sesame Street bubble bath, and stickers. Each of Connor's little friends got a gift bag too. On the front of each child's bag I put a Sesame Street character and the first letter of the child's name and put G is for Greg. I also played a CD set of Sesame Street music in the background through-out the party. For food I served an Elmo cake that I made by baking an oval cake, frosting it red, and using the tops of cupcakes frosted white and orange for the eyes and the nose. Then I piped on a black smile and pupils. I also make cupcakes frosted the same way for the little ones. I served sugar cookies in the shapes of 1s and Cs, and a Jell-O mold in a clean fish bowl with blue Jell-O and a rubber goldfish inside, in honor of Elmo's pet goldfish. While my son opened his presents, he sat with each gift giver and when they had opened the present, everyone had their picture taken with my son and Elmo. I am planning to enclose these in the thank you notes. Everyone had a wonderful time, and even though my little boy won't remember it, he had fun, and we have a lot of pictures.
