My son's first birthday is this December 21, 2001. We are having his birthday party on December 15, 2001. The party is being held at my parents. We have a huge family, so we are having a tent outside along with a Green Dinosaur Bouncer. The theme of our son's birthday party is Sesame Street, but mainly Elmo since it is his favorite character. I hand made the invitations myself. On the front I drew the Sesame Street Sign. On the top where it says "CTW" I wrote "JMH" which are my son's initials. Then in the main part of the sign I wrote: Jeremy's Turning One!" Under the sign I drew Elmo and next to it I wrote" Elmo Says: "Come Join the Fun!" On the inside of the card I wrote all the Basics: For, Date, When, Where, and RSVP. Then at the way bottom I wrote: " Brought to you by the Letter "J" and the number "1". However on the very top of the card I wrote a small note, telling everyone that we are making a time capsule for Jeremy and that we need their help in writing a short note and if they wanted to include a small trinket for the time capsule. And that we plan to give him this capsule when he turns 18. I am getting a silver popcorn tin and decorating it with Sesame Street Stickers because of the theme of the party and that is going to be the time capsule. I am decorating my parents house in orange and red streamers because that is the color of Elmo and his nose. For cups I got clear green for the color of the sign and yellow forks, knives and spoons. And plates I got in red. The cake is going to have the whole sesame street cast and the sesame street sign saying "Jeremy". I am going to get plenty of Polaroid film and plan to have each guest sit with him to help him open the gift that they brought for him and take a picture of it. Those Polaroid will be going to each guest with their thank you note. Then I am doing the same with regular 35mm film and those will go in his time capsule. Also for each child at the party even the older children 10-18, I printed out from the computer the letter of their first name with a sesame street character attached to the letter and they will color it at the party and that will go into the time capsule. Of course each child will get their own small box of crayons. The goodie bags I bought from Michael's. They are plain white and I drew Elmo on them and it says: Elmo Loves: and the child's name. I got some bubbles, sesame street stickers, some pencils with pictures on them, some sweet tarts, and these fun little stamps. For the older kids I had some of the same stuff but I got $10.00 gift certificate to Blockbuster. Since there many of them it didn't cost a lot. And that going to be my son's first birthday party. Plenty of pictures are going to be taken for the scrapbook I have for him. The scrapbook is his very first year.
