For my son's 2nd birthday, we had a Sesame Street-themed party. For decorations, we had helium balloons on the ceiling with strings long enough so the kids could reach them, Sesame Street
plates and napkins coupled with primary colored utensils, Sesame Street tablecloths with red plastic covers underneath to add more color (and strength) and some centerpieces of Big Bird and
Oscar found at our local party store. I had 2 Little Tike tables set up with very simple activities - the first, had Sesame Street coloring books and crayons and the other had bubbles wrapped
with Elmo lollipop bags (found at your local grocery store). We kept the Sesame Street CDs playing and then had a surprise guest arrive, Elmo himself. To bring the cost down, I rented the
costume and had my sister dress up. The kids loved it. We then put on "Big Bird's Get Up and Dance Video" and had Elmo lead the kids in all of their favorite dances. Then each child
took a picture with Elmo (I borrowed a Polaroid camera) and had picture frames on hand and ready to decorate with all types of stickers. We ran out of time so we decorated them at home and
sent the frames (with magnets on the back so they could be enjoyed on the fridge)along with his thank you notes. For dessert, I made Oscar and Elmo cupcakes. They were very easy to decorate.
I dyed the frosting green for Oscar and red for Elmo - mini marshmallows for the eyes with a black dot(frosting) in the center and for Oscar made one long eyebrow with brown frosting and for
Elmo added an orange jelly bean in the center for his nose. We had a great time - my son still talks about it.
