For my daughter's second birthday we chose an Elmo" theme.
For her invitation I took a picture of her dressed in a blue jean outfit with an Elmo and her name monogrammed on it holding her TMX Elmo. I inserted the picture into Microsoft publisher (which I used to make her invitations) and the invite read "Elmo loves to party...we hope that you do too...come and help us celebrate...Isabella is turning two!" I put the date and time. For the address I found a jpeg file of the "Sesame Street" sign and put our address in the same lettering to match "Sesame Street" over where it says "Sesame Street"(this can be done in publisher) and the invitation at the bottom read "This party is brought to you by the Letter I and the Number 2!" On the day of the party we had it outside (in February and even down south...it was very cold). But the kids bundled up and we had it outside in our garage. I had a Sesame Street sign that I made out of green and yellow poster board that said "Happy Birthday Isabella" and I made a stand up Elmo out of a big vaccuum box for the kids to take pictures next to. I also had a picture of Elmo (made out of red poster board) laminated to play "Pin the nose on Elmo" with orange noses for the kids to tape on blindfolded. We had an Elmo pinata and the kids loved playing that game. I also bought the Elmo bean bag toss game at Target (for about $10). I found some coloring sheets on-line of Elmo (I for Igloo and one with the number 2) and some of the kids colored (I had a kids picnic table and child's table for them to use). I had a bunch of ride-on toys to entertain the kids. We also live on several acres with a pond and so my husband rode his tractor and pulled the kids in a trailer around the property (the kids loved that!) For the party food I had Elmo's favorite - pizza (bagel bites) and goldfish M&M's peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cut out like stars chips dips. For the cake we used the Elmo cake pan and made it to look like Elmo (her Nana did it and it was soooo cute!). I also made 48 "Elmo" cupcakes. I put red icing on the cup cakes and then cut big marshmellows in half and put brown M&M's and this became Elmo's eyes and for the nose I used the candy called "orange slices" and cut the pointed ends off. They were really cute and all of the kids loved them. I even found some juice boxes that had the Sesame Street characters on them (Sam's Wholesale Club). I made an Oscar the Grouch out of poster board and put it by the garbage can. I had some helium balloons along with the Elmo balloon. I had a big stuffed Elmo and the Kareoke Elmo as decorations on the table. I also had a cup cake stand that I put just plain red cup cakes and at the top I had a "2" candle and on either side I had "Zoe" and "Elmo" figurines on the cup cakes. We used the "Elmo loves you" themed party napkins party hats and table cloths. I even got some of the "Elmo loves you" trays for brownies. For the favor I found Elmo sticker/coloring books at the Dollar Tree and wrapped them in Sesame Street wrapping paper (also found at the Dollar Tree) along with a pack of colors. One of my best friends had a Sesame Street mold and she made 50 chocolate Sesame Street suckers as part of the favor. Isabella got lots of presents (including the Elmo doctor kit and Elmo 2 in 1 giggle vaccuum!) All in all...the kids had a wonderful time and my daughter had a great birthday. There were 27 kids invited and about 22 of them came so it was a great turnout despite the cold temperature. She loves Elmo and she enjoyed her party very much! "
