For my daughter's 6th birthday we had a fairy party. We sent out invitations printed from the computer and decorated with a fairy charm tied to the top with a ribbon. They read: You are
invited to a Special Gathering of Fairies to help Emma celebrate her 6th birthday. The party will be held in the Magical Gardens of (address), the Games and Festivities will take place at
(date and time), please RSVP the Resident Gardeners (your names and number). As the guests arrived, they were sprinkled with fairy dust(glitter and glitter gel). Once all the
guests had arrived we read them a story about fairies so that they could learn about different kinds of fairies and the important jobs that they do. From here we went to the craft table
were they each made a treat for the birds(pinecone bird feeders: pinecones rolled in peanut butter and then rolled in bird seeds). Once they had completed their good deed they were
presented with their fairy wings(wire covered with pastel tulle and decorated with flowers, glitter, and ribbons) We all then flew to the "game garden".
There were several games set up and at each one they were presented with a fairy related prize. FLOWER POT TOSS: large flower pots were set up that had a single flower in each (stuck into a piece of styrofoam) and they were given rings made out of flowers to throw and try to ring the flowers. They were then presented with a crown of flowers with ribbons flowing from it to wear on their heads. BUG BAG TOSS: large flower pots were set up and they were given bean bags in the shapes of bugs to throw into the pots. They were then presented with a ribbon of bells to tie around their wrists. MUSICAL FLOWERS: just like musical chairs but they walk around and stop on felt flowers. The prize for this was a chocolate gold coin(from the tooth fairy). Once the games were over, we ate. For refreshments we served "dirt cake" in real flower pots with cookie flowers on sticks in the center, so they looked like real flower pots and punch. We decorated the different rooms with flower pots and bunches of big flower balloons. We hung flowers that my daughter helped make from the ceiling and on the walls. The table was decorated with items from my daughters fairy garden...miniature garden furniture, rocks, and a fairy statue. While we waited for everyone to be picked up, we watched all of the fairies dance around to music. Each guest was sent home with goodie stuffed flower pots that we had painted butterflies on. The pots contained sunflower seeds, stickers of bugs and flowers, fairy dust(glitter gel), bird whistles, pixie sticks, and tootsie pop suckers made to look like flowers(make a construction paper flower and punch a hole in the middle, insert tootsie pop and add a few leaves). They also all left with their fairy attire. A MAGICAL time was had by all. And it was a celebration we will always remember.
