Woodland Fairies and Leapin Leprechauns My daughter is turning four on march 15th and we have decided to become little fairies and leprechauns for the occasion. The invitation reads:
Please Come Help Maddy find the Pot of Gold. Please wear your Fairy finest Tutus and gentlemen please come a Wearin' o' the Green. It will be A Fairy Fun time. Wands and Wings to Be Provided!
The party is taking place at a local museum that is located in a wooded area, but this party can easily be done at home. When the children arrive they will be supplied with wings I made with
inexpensive colored cellophane. Simply take 12 inches of cellophane, gather in the Middle and tie with co-ordinating ribbons. Headbands were purchased in the dollar store. They resemble a
Hawaiian lei that fits a child's head. The boys will be provided with mini derbys and sparkling green bow-ties. I have a rainbow pinata filled with candy and miniature magnifying glasses(
need to hunt for the pot of gold) and miniature flutes to play while we dance to Irish music( in hopes of calling out other fairies and leprechauns! Snacks will be served in little glass
flower petals( dollar store) and flower pots sprayed gold( like the pot of gold) snacks include skittle candies(representing pieces of the rainbow) , Jell-O jigglers made in
mini muffin tins( representing gems and jewels that might be found at the end or the rainbow) Th e birthday cake is none other than the pot of gold itself! Regular cake mix( do not use moist) backed in a Pyrex bowl. Remove from bowl, frost black and on top frost gold and insert wrapped chocolate coins. Use black string licorice as a handle. On outside of pot write " GOOD LUCK TO YOU__________ & Happy _Birthday. Don't forget the rainbow sherbet on the side! Served with a side of green and/or pink juices. At this time the museum will do its part and show backyard animals to the children while I hide the pot of gold outside on the museum trail. I will drop gold coins so that the children can find their way and hide cut outs of shamrocks, leprechauns and fairies behind trees and bushes. This will all lead to a Rainbow that I made out of crepe paper ,placed on one of those science fair boards. Behind the board will be .....the Pot of gold filled with goodybags that resemble leprechaun bags( simply made of green felt for the boys and pink purse- like bags for the girls .Inside the boy bags: individual bags of skittles, leprechaun stickers, green glow sticks( for hunting leprechauns at night), pixie stick candy and shamrock key chain. Girls bags: flower pony tail holder, fairy stickers, shamrock key chain, pink glow sticks(for hunting fairies at night)pixie sticks, skittles and fairy dust necklaces, plus beads and baubles for all! They also get to keep costume parts, magnifying glasses and little flutes. It will be a fairy fun time....I am sure!
