Fairy Party... 3yr. old daughter, Chloe.
We sent out fairy invitations. Darling print I found on the web - Fairy walking the spider web tight rope in a forest of tiny animals and critters. I made up a poem which read: Far, far away, in a magical place, Sits a small little fairy, with her soft smiling face. She waits for her friends, in the warm summer sun, Won't you come September 8th, to join in the fun. With fun foods to eat, and fun games to play, Your arrival at noon, will make Chloe's day. She anxiously waits, as each day passes by, While her mommy and daddy, await your reply. You could change it around to fit your child's personality. We then added our home address, phone#, e-mail address. I made small fairy wings (25" wire for each wing, looped into an oval, and floral taped together.. each covered in tulle of a different color. Blues, greens, navy's for the boys, all colors for the girls). We even put the wings on the babies for photo purposes. Two of my girlfriend's offered to be the fairies. They made their own outfits, of faux silk background with multi-colored tulle skirts. They wore handmade floral/berry head pieces, and ribbon adorned their outfits. As, each guest arrived, they were showered with bubbles, as we purchased a small party bubble machine for the porch. When they rang the bell, they were greeted by the two fairies, who put glitter lotion on their arms and face. They asked each guest, their choice in color for their wings. After getting their wings tied on in our entry way, they walked through an arch that was built around the entry way to the living area. The arch was made of curly willow branches (any tree branch will work) tied to the entry way covered with white lights. Curling Ribbon streamers (for wrapping presents) were hanging throughout the trees in the backyard, for a magical feel. The two Fairies, then did different activities with the kids. Face and feet painting (for those who had gone barefooted), Fairy pictures to paint, small netted butterflies to paint and then added onto chenille stems to flutter. Copper Wands attached to thin wooden dowels were waiting for the little fairies to wave(made by my neighbor)as they dipped them into the bubble solution from a silver urn. Finger foods were grouped on a table low enough for the fairies to reach. Fun Foods to eat, included store bought cotton candy, broken into small pieces, marshmallow lemon wedges, caramel popcorn, whole black olives, mini carrots, strawberry wafer cookies and pizza was served for the main course. The olives and cotton candy were a hit, along with the wafer cookies. White paper gift bags were used for the party gift favors. Fairy stickers were placed on each bag(I originally purchased fairy wallies...but ran out of time pasting them onto the bags). Inside, fairies found small body glitter, fairy stickers and a precious fair bunny. Thank you notes were mailed out using a Hello Kitty card I found on the web which said "Thank you Fairy Much". Chloe added her own special touch by coloring inside the note card. We enclosed Fairy tattoos, and instructions on how to place and remove them. (We were originally going to put the tattoos on our guests at the party, but ran out of time, as we were unable to read our fairy story as well). The kids had so much fun playing in our sandbox, and doing different fairy activities. Another game we did not get to, was a scavenger hunt, to "help the troll find his magical rocks (or marbles)"... we were going to make pathways made with leaves. We looked for pink popcorn (remember those popcorn bricks) to break up, but I couldn't find. We did have fairy dust to sprinkle onto their food. Pink candy sprinkles and green fairy parsley dust for their pizza. We also served ho-ho's and ding-dongs along with the birthday cake.
