My daughter had a fairy party for her sixth birthday party. For decorations, I had printed out free coloring pictures of butterflies and faires from the internet. After coloring
them with my kids we pinned them to our curtains. We also made butterflies coloring coffee filters with watercolors and then folding them and pinching them between clothpens and then
spreading the wings open. I sprinkled fairy dust (glitter) on the tableclothes. I bought a glass container from the dollar store and decorated it with butterfly and flower stickers.
I filled it with Hershey Kisses and called them fairy kisses. As the girls arrived, they wrote their names down and wrote their guess as to how many kisses. (This sheet later served as to where I recored the gifts that were given for the guests names were already on it.) The girls got to wear fairy crowns made from pipe cleaners. I took one color and formed the circle (2 layers), then I criss crossed two other colors over the circle. Then I stuck some silk flowers in the back and tied long curling ribbon in the back. My husband did some face paintings. While the girls waited to get their faces painted, they decorated plain white pinweels I got from Oriental Trading Company. I wrapped the stick with ribbon to make them look like wands. Next the girls put on glitter nail polish and glitter gel. I made small mirrors that were framed with foam sheets and they got to decorate those with flower, hearts, and butterfly foam stickers. They loved seeing their face paintings in the mirrors. Next, we played four games. First, pin the star on the wand of a fairy that my husband drew. Next, drop the flowers in a vase game. A girl would stand on a chair and had to drop five silk flower heads into a vase that was down below on the floor. Next, I bought 6 small tera cota flower pots and wrote numbers on them that represented points (1-3). Then I placed them in a triangle shape with each row representing a point value(1-3). The girls had to toss plastic golf balls into the flower pots and we kept score of their points. The last game we did was a sundae walk. I cut out different colored flowers and placed them on the floor in a circle. I started the music and when I stopped the music I called out a color. The girl who was standing on the flower was handed a ticket to go get her sundae. I continued until all the girls got their tickets. This helped with the serving of the sundaes so they weren't all waiting at the table. The girls got to make their own sundaes with plenty of fairy dust (sprinkles). We had cake and then opend presents. A great time was had by all.
