Fairy Party 5 yr old Firstly I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed fairy party ideas previously as it really helped me to plan this one for my daughter Nicole. Nicole is mad keen on
fairies so it was easy to decide on the Flower Fairy theme. We ordered co-ordinated fairy party supplies - invitations, loot bags, plates, cups, napkins. Six little fairies were invited to
Nicole's fairy castle. We also had 3 older fairies (older sisters) to help with activities/games. The castle was created in our paddock, used ride-on mower to cut long grass into shape of
fairy ring (for dancing later) and circle in middle where gazebo was set up. Gazebo (for shade) was decorated inside with shimmery curtains & purple mosquito net hanging from ceiling.
Outside decorated with balloons & tissue fan flowers made by my daughters. On arrival guests were greeted by the birthday fairy and her "Fairy Godmother" (I dressed up with
wings, crown etc). Guests were asked "Do you believe in fairies?" All said yes. They were then asked to close eyes, spin around 3 times and clap hands 3 times. The Fairy Godmother
then said "Bibbity bobbity boo, I wish you to be a flower fairy for the day". Guests were given a handmade name tag with own name and predetermined colour/fairy name e.g. Nicole-
Lilac Fairy, Dannika- Rosebud Fairy. Lots of flower fairy sites on the internet for ideas and pictures. The birthday fairy led guests to the Fairy Castle where they did Craft (until everyone
arrived): Decorate Tiara/Crown (silver card strips decorated with glitter, stickers, gems etc, then stapled to match head size). When all guests arrived, Fairy Godmother told story about
being so busy with organising party, got into a muddle, and needed help to find her party gear which she had mislaid. Guests were given verbal clues for scavenger hunt to find party fairy
wings, wand, crown & flying shoes. REWARD for everyone helping find these was pair of wings for each guest (cheap from $2 shop), matched to fairy name colour (eg. purple, pink, white).
Then everyone sitting in circle to listen to story from "Imagine You're a Fairy" (highly recommended). This told fairies what they needed for magic: wings, crown/tiara, wand and
fairy dust. Each guest was given a small colour-matched gossamer? bag for keeping treasures. Next the older fairies help guests make Fairy Dust which was put into these bags. Games: Fairy
Freeze Dance around the fairy circle - guests practiced fairy flying, fluttering, swooping, gliding etc. As each fairy "got out" led to table where older fairies helped them put on
nail polish, body glitter and stick-on earrings. REWARD for participating in Fairy Freeze was decorated wand for each fairy. Next game, definitely the favourite, was Tooth Fairy Spilled
Money. The Tooth Fairy had been flying over and was so busy watching the party games had crashed into tree in garden and dropped some money. She told Fairy Godmother that if fairies helped to
"clean up" they could keep coins they found (in their own treasure bags). This kept fairies busy while fairy picnic (afternoon tea) was laid out. Fairies returned to Fairy Castle
for picnic and birthday cake. All sat in a circle for present opening - each giver sat beside birthday girl while she opened present & photo taken. Must remember to take group photo also
- we forgot! Next games: Pass the Fairy Parcel, Fairy Tag. Fairy Tag, similar to Stuck in the Mud, one fairy had special "freeze" wand and another had special "fly free"
wand. This is great game for using up energy and increasing appetite - in retrospect should have done this one earlier. Had fairy books available for quiet reading if needed (didn't). All
guests sent home with loot bag (very small), fairy wings, fairy wand, fairy dust & coins in treasure bag & fairy tiara they had made. My daughter really enjoyed her special day. Later
sent thank you cards which included photos taken at party.
