For my 13th birthday party I wanted to do something special, and since my birthday is in March I couldn't do anything that invovles water because it would be too cold. So I decided to have a
BBQ/Feista party. For the Invitations I went to Party City and bought some premade invitations that had a design like a Mexican poncho. I filled them out and told each person to RSVP saying
whether they wanted hamburgers or hot-dogs for dinner, so that we would know how many to buy. I also bought the dinner plates, cake plates, cups, napkins, and tablecloth that went with the
invitations. I have a large backyard, but I didn't have anywhere where my guests could eat, so I rented the fold up table and chairs and set them up on my driveway with the tablecloths,
plates, cups, napkins, and forks. When each guest got there I gave them a sombrero that I got from Oreintal Trading Company. After everyone was there my dad started to grill the hamburgers
and hot-dogs. We played two icebreaker games until the food was done cooking because not everyone knew each other. For the food my mom bought tons of chips and we put them in bowls on one
long table, we also put all of the condiments that you would need for the hamburgers and hot-dogs on that table. When everyone was done eating we did cake and ice-cream. I went to Publix and
gave them the napkin from the set and asked them to put the design on the napkin onto the cake, and then write Happy Birthday Amanda in the center. The cake turned out really good! For the
ice-cream we went and bought the mini packages that are always used at parties. When everyone was done eating cake, I opened presents. After that we went in my backyard and played tons of
games such as Sardines, Pass the Orange, Pass the Sand, Frisbee Golf, and tons more. Sardines is the opposite of hide and go seek, one person hides and the rest of the people have to find
them. Once you find them you have to hide with them. You can probably tell why it is called Sardines. The Pass the Orange and Pass the Sand game are very similar. For Pass the Orange, you
must line up in two teams and try to pass the orange from one person to another by only using your neck and chin, if you drop it you have to start over. For The Pass the Sand game, you have
to pass a handfull of sand from one person to another and the person with the most sand at the end wins. Frisbee Golf is one of my personal favorites. My dad had a lot of old 10 gallon
buckets, so we decided to tie them to trees. We went a bought a ton of frisbees, and then we split them up between however many people their were. Then everyone had to throw the frisbee in
the bucket, with each bucket getting higher in a tree with each "hole". About an hour before the party was over I gave everyone glow sticks, glow necklaces, glow braclets, and even
glow candy! By then it was dark and we ran around the yard screaming and acting like crazy. About 30 minutes before it was time to leave we did a pinata. It was shaped like a party hat, but
it had the same colors in it as the plates and napkins. It was really fun though. When it was time to leave I let everyone keep there glowsticks and gave them a goody bag. For the goody bag I
used red, white and navy blue bandannas that I also found at party city. They were very inexpensive. I put candy, more glow stuff, and party poppers (also found at party city) in the middle
of the bandanna and then tied the bandanna up at the top. I punched a hole in the fabric on one corner and tied a ribbon with the guest's name on it, on it. This was a great party and I'm so
glad I decided to do it! I hope this helps you with your party planning! ~)Amanda(~
