Each year we have a big Mexican fiesta for our parents, whose birthdays are one day apart. Weather permitting, we set up the yard with pinatas and other mexican-themed supplies, barrels of
Corona and soda, and of course we have a long table set up buffet-style with traditional mexican food. We hire either a mariachi band or a conjunto/banda nortena for several hours. We
schedule the band to arrive at a certain time in the evening, when we know all of the guests will have arrived. At that time the band makes a grand entrance, playing a traditional party song,
then continues playing whatever songs are requested by guests. We play cards, a sort of spanish poker if you will; we sing, we dance, we eat and drink.
