For my son's 1st birthday we decided to do a Finding Nemo theme because he loves to watch the movie. I cut out a scuba mask shape from blue and green foam sheets and used black felt as the strap for the invitation. I put Nemo stickers and a cardstock piece of paper with party info on it. For decorations I used yellow streamers as you walked in the door for the sea anemone. Then I had blue streamersacross the ceiling taped up to look like waves and I hung fish from ribbon from the ceiling like they were in the water as well. I taped fish cutouts that I got from a teacher supply store, the fish had each childs name on the back, and they were supposed to find their fish to get their goody bag. As you walked in to the garage where the tables and chairs were setup I had purple streamers(jellyfish)hanging. In the garage I covered the walls with blue butcher paper and painted on the fish from the movie using a overhead projecter. We also hung up blue christmas lights around the top of the walls and the bottom of a boat from the ceiling. We played 2 games, pass the puffer fish (hot potato)with a toy puffer fish that I got from the $1 store and Gil says (Simon says) which I awarded a 1st place and 2nd place fish themed prize to the winners. We served shark punch (kool aid and ginger ale with gummy fish frozen in to ice cubes), pb&j and tuna sandwiches cut out into fish shapes, Nemo chex mix, mini aquariums in a cup (blue jello with gummy fish), along with the regular food - carnitas, rice, beans, nachos and chicken salad. I made his little cake, I cut out the shape of a fish and added orange food coloring to the frosting, added some white stripes, and a blue m&m for the eye. We also ordered to big cakes and had ice cream as well. The goody bags were Finding Nemo bags that I just got from the party store with goldfish, fruit snacks, a fish straw, some fish tattoos, a shark squirt toy, a Nemo sticker and some other little party favors from Wishing Well. Everyone had a good time, especially the birthday boy who couldn't even stay awake to open his presents! After his nap we brought them into his room and opened them with the guest that were still there. He had a fun time doing that too!
