For my daughters third birthday we had a finding nemo party. The movie had just come out on video and the kids were still exited about it. I bought invitations and decorations at I-party. I
find sometimes that to buy an entire theme of party supplies at the party supply store can get quite expensive, so instead i bought nemo cake plates and put orange dinner plates underneath. I
bought nemo party hats but I bought orange cups, it gives it a really nice effect and you dont have to buy everything "themed" For invitations I used the store bought nemo ones. For
decorations I bought blue tissue paper and covered the windows and I replaced every lightbulb in the house from plain ones to blue ones. It felt like we were underwater. To complete the
underwater theme we made some fish on cardboard and some jelly fish out of coffee filters cups and curling ribbon ( a craft i got from dltk kids). I also bought honeycomb fish and hung those
from the ceiling. I hung blue streamers from the ceiling and twisted them to look like "waves" I bought 300 blue balloons and covered the entire living room floor with them (we
filled them with my husband's air compressor)in the living room we had the finding nemo movie playing. we also set up a snack table in there with goldfish crackers chips swedish fish
and blue punch made with blue kool-aid and sprite. I'm very creative when it comes to cakes so I won't bore with the details of how i fashioned two boxes of orange cake mix, frosting and gumball eyes into an exact replica of nemo. I put the cake on a cake board covered with aluminum foil and I sprayed it with blue frosting spray, it looked like real water. The nemo cake was definitely the star of the party. for activities we played dance freeze to a water song themed cd I made with songs like splish splash. we ordered pizza to eat simply because 3 yr olds are not that big on crab cakes or any seafood related items. In the end the kids were having so much fun no one left until 8:30 ( it started at 4pm) and after everyone left my family insisted on keeping up the decorations for a week.
