My daughter loved fish from the first time I taught her how to make fish sounds and loves the movie Finding Nemo so for her 3rd birthday we decided to do a fish party. Invitations: I
printed out invitations on my computer that had fish on them in an underwater scene. Decorations: We decided to go with the orange and blue theme of Nemo and had a plastic orange table cloth
on the food table and blue and orange balloons everywhere. We also purchaed a few inflatable fishies and hung them on the wall so it looked like they were swimming in the bubbles of baloons.
Activities: For games we played Pin the fish in the Ocean" kind of like "Pin the tale on the donkey" but for 2 and 3 year olds! To make this I decorated a large poster
board with blue paper and printed out different fish and seaweed shapes to cut and paste on the ocean floor. THen printed out and laminated different fish shapes that the kids had to put in
the ocean. I then gave out the party bags as prizes. We also played "Hot Fish" which is like "Hot Potato" basicallyfish bath toys that squirt water a gold fish cracker
container filled with Swedish fish a fish water game and a few boxes of the card game "Go Fish". The winner got to pick a prize first and I ended up letting everyone else pick a
prize too. Party Snacks: For snack food we took a fish cookie cutter and cut fish shaped hamburgers and for the buns cut fish shapes out of white bread. We had fish shaped sugar cookies a
bowl of goldfish crackers and a bowl of swedish jelly fish. I made blue jello and put it in muffin tins and when they were almost done in the refrigerator I put a swedish gummy fish in the
center. When they were done it looked like a little fishie in its own ocean bubble. We made a garlic and dill cream cheese dip ball and put baby carrots in it so it looked like a sea anemone
and surrounded it with wheat thin crackers to look like the sandy ocean floor. We cut hot dogs an inch from the end and made 8 strips and boiled them and when they were done they looked like
an octopus. We served a few of these over macaroni and cheese a kids favorite! Cake:I made a fish tank cake that I had seen in a magazine (very easy) made out of pound cake and cut in half
and folded together cut sides down to make a fish tank. Frosted in icing colored in Wilton blue I then decorated the sides with black licorice to make the tank edges I put gold fish crackers
and starfish on the sides and piped white bubbles and green sea weed on the sides. Also used Nerds candies on the bottom of the tank to look like the pebbles. Favors:
For the gift bags I bought orange paper bags at Walmart and filled them with a small pack of twistable crayons (also bought at walmart for $1.00 a piece) a whistle small snack pack of goldfish crackers Nemo tattoos and stickers (purchased on ebay) a green or blue pencil with a tropical fish eraser and a clown fish notepad (also bought on ebay). Also were rubber fish that eyes popped out when you sqeezed it (bought on ebay)and of course bubbles. I then put fish and bubble stickers on the bags. "
