For my daughter's 6th and my sons 3rd birthdays, I decided to do their birthday parties together as their birthdays are 2 weeks apart. We first decided to have the party at my dad's fire
department in a large meeting type room because we knew with both parties being together several people attend. I knew we wanted something neutral so we decided to go with a nemo/underwater
party. At the party we decorated to the extreme. We took paper fish (bought at Garden Ridge) and other underwater creatures and hung them from the ceiling. We also took strips of blue see
through paper (also bought at Garden Ridge) that you use on like gift baskets kind of krinkled on the ceiling to look like water. I traced my son and daughters hands on red construction paper
to make little crabs. I had them place hands where the bottom of their palms were touching with their hands going in opposite directions, we cut them out, cut off the thumbs then added little
beady eyes on them and placed them on the walls along with other paper fish. I also had them draw some fish and other creatures" that I cut out and hung on the walls. We also took the
blue paper and kind of krinkled it up on the food table sort of in between bowls to be like water. On the cake table we used the same paper and added a "fishing net"(bought at
factory card outlet) sort of around the cake . All tables had white tablecloths and the centerpieces on each table were either a ocean scented blue pillar candle on a clear Plate with some
blue shiney stringy stuff underneath OR a little fish bowl sitting on the blue stringy stuff with one live fish in them (the fish were also part of their gift from us with a large fish tank).
For food we had hotdogs that we cut halfway up to make eight legs so when you cook them they look like octopus. little gold fish snacks chips and other food was served in sand buckets (bought
out of the clearance bin at Toys R Us). We also had our whole family dress in orange of some sort to keep along with the Nemo theme. The cake was just a nemo cake from Wal-mart most of time
was spent with the decorating. This party took place a couple of years ago but everyone still talks about so I thought I'd add it on here so maybe someone can get some ideas. "
