for the invitation...I got clip art of a firefighter and glued it on red paper, the invite read " Chief Dallas is calling all new fire recruits. There will be a training to extinguish 2 candles on his birthday cake...training date for...we will ignite at 4:30pm, Fire Station #2 is located at...Please sound the alarm and let us know if you will be there phone #" (borrowed the line from another post).  I printed the invite info on white paper using red ink and then burnt the edges and glued it to the inside invitation.  We hand delivered the invitations w/ the birthday boy wearing a fire hat and his sister was in a cardboard fire truck box I made. Cups, napkins and plates were fire trucks and dalmatian I got at the $1 store.  For the party...outside while waiting for all the gues to come, one of our neighbors brought their dalmatian for the kids to play w/ and the kids made dalmatian out of white lunch bags, we later used for the pinata. Played a game of toss the fire in the water bucket, I made beanbags out of material that looked like fire, they each got a sticker from the local fire dept.  We did play Stop, Drop & Roll several times outside too.  We came in for dinner. Inside I have a multi-level home, so I have a pretty neat loft area where I made a fire house out of cardboard, sprayed painted it red and got a blk marker added lines to look like bricks, made a sheild that read "(last name)Co. Fire Dept. Fire Station #2", we put an American flag on the roof of the fire house.  Other decorations around the house were of course fire truck toys, some homemade fire truck quilts, red and yellow tissue paper in the windows to look like fire, red balloons and yellow streamers everywhere. After dinner we played another game...Put out the fire, they dial 911 on a play phone and then took off red balloons we taped to a playhouse and then popped them. Next game...Save the kitty from the tree...I cut out from cardboard and painted a tree, cut out a hole big enough for a stuff cat, we tied the tree to a jungle gym we have the kids had to climb up the ladder and save the kitty and then slide down the slide.  The girls got stuff toy cat, the boy a match car fire truck.  We had cake which I made a fire truck, using the instruction from familyfun.com. The the fire chief open his presents and afterwards we did the dalmatian pinata, using the bags they made ealier. It was time to go and each child received a plastic fire hat and a goodie bag, I made out red material w/ a yellow pull string which included: a small fire truck book, stickers, Big Red gum, bubbles, rubber squees fire truck, an American flag key chain, magnet from local fire dept and a plastic fire fighter. It was lots of fun!
