My 5 year old wants to be a fire fighter one day, and when as birthday approached (May 24), we decided since we live in a smaller community that we would have a "fire fighter" theme
party and asked the local volunteer fire department for help. They were more than helpful and agreed to host the party, have a tour and let the children look at the equipment, trucks,
and try on the gear. They have a room that we can use for the cake, games and presents, for a donation to the fire station. Someone told me the local insurance companies have fire prevention
information for children, and when I contacted the local State Farm office, they were happy to provide coloring books, stickers and other fun give aways for the children. I also
researched some websites and found easy and fun "fire truck" craft ideas, and found fire truck party hats the children can decorate as they arrive at the party. My neighbor
even has a Dalmatian dog who is going to be a "special guest". A hot potato game will be played with a small stuffed Dalmatian dog, and a fire truck piņata will be used for a
game. So for a very reasonable price, we are able to host a fun, and unique party and grant a birthday wish for my son to be a "fire fighter for a day"!
