For my son's 2nd birthday (in January), we choose something that he loves FISH! I made the invitations myself. I googled fish and found a cute little fish jumping that I used on
both top corners.
Then I put You are o-FISH-ally invited to (child's names) Very Fishy Fish Fry Party! Then of course, I included all the important information (time, place, ect.). I also included a cute little picture of a boy fishing. I printed it out on light blue paper using dark blue ink. For decoration- The party was at my parents house out on their massive backporch. Being a family of fishermen, we used my dad's shrimping nets. We draped one down from the ceiling. While using smaller ones over the windows. We moved in my mom's lighthouse from the yard. We also swiped all the nick-nacks from inside dealing with fishing- including a 2 foot bear holding a fish. I used construction paper and cut out different colored fish to place throughout the nets. My son being only 2, we didn't have many games, but we did have a fishing game set up (the store bought one with little fishing poles and the fish move). I bought little fish bowls that I filled with gold fish crackers. And I had one big bucket of gummy worms. Food- We chose to have a fish fry since my family love fish. My dad cooked catfish nuggets for everybody. And we had fries, biscuits, honey and beans. (we also had hot dogs for those few friends that didn't eat fish). For the cake- I made it my self. I chose to make a fish tank. I made a one layer cake using a 9 x 13 casserole pan. I covered it with white frosting and used the round, colored candy confetti to make my rocks. Then I found some gummy fish and used tooth picks to make them stand up and swim. I bought a colorful rock out the fish department, ran it through the dishwasher and used that as well. Then I simply used the candy pre-made Happy Birthday and a number 2 candle. Thinking that might not be enough, I made a batch of cupcakes. Used the same white frosting, but I put a gummy worm on each cake. Everybody had a great FISHY time!
