Fish Party- 2 year old My husband and I wanted to give our 2 year old son a birthday party with all of his friends, but since his birthday falls around Memorial Day Weekend and so many have plans for that weekend, we decided to take his party to his babysitters, where all of his friends are anyway.  We decided on a Fish Theme. We bought a Fish Piņata and filled it with candy and small party favors. Since the kids are all 5 and under, we didn't blind fold them to do the piņata, and we used a play fishing pole with the string taped down to hit the piņata with. We also took a Fish Pond- a small baby pool with water we dyed with blue food coloring.  We put small floating fish in it in different colors. The kids "fished" with a fish net (like you would use for an aquarium). The colors of the fish corresponded with fish we placed in the "prize bags." Each child exchanged the fish he/she caught for a prize bag with the same color fish. The prize bags each had a crazy straw, goldfish crackers, small candies, bubbles, a Go Fish deck of cards, and fish stickers. We took plain white lunch bags for the piņata candy and fish stamps, markers, glitter, glue, and buttons for the kids to decorate and personalize.  Lunch was pb and grape jelly, pb and strawberry jelly, strawberry cream cheese, and pineapple cream cheese sandwiches made on rainbow bread (from Krogers) and cut out with a fish shaped cookie cutter; Goldfish crackers in assorted flavors (can you believe how many different kinds of Goldfish crackers there are now?!); Jell-O Fish Bowl- blue Jell-O in a fish bowl with sea creature shaped pineapple and Swedish fish candy "swimming" in it; Blue Sea Kool-Aid (blue Kool-Aid); and Funfetti cupcakes decorated with deep blue icing and a Swedish fish candy swimming on top.  The centerpiece was a huge tower of shiny streamers and fish hanging down at all different levels.  My husband and I were there for lunch and then for the piņata and Fish Pond.  We took a picture of the whole group of kids and made copies for all the parents. We also took Dr. Suess' One Fish Two Fish book and The Little Mermaid movie for activities during the day.  My babysitter loved having the day planned for her and the kids had a blast. They are already asking what we will do for Brandon's birthday next year!
