For my son's 5th birthday, we had an outdoor theme although it was inside! As the kids arrived, they were seated at the table with soil, spoons, seeds and mini peat planters. They all got to
plant their own flowers, and take them home. Because I set it up on a disposable tablecloth, clean up was a breeze.
The house was decorated with paper flowers, fish, sea creatures and sea weed, with "sea weed" hanging from the ceiling. Next they played "fish pond" with home made fishing poles while my husband hid behind a cardboard wall I had made and decorated by painting an underwater scene complete with googley eyes on the fish! Their goody bags had candy bugs and worms, plastic bugs, pencils, stickers, etc and the cake was a sunflower made of a round cake with Twinkies for pedals. They also played pin the bee on the blossom, and each got to decorate a paper fish with markers, glitter, googley eyes, etc. A great time was had by all!
