For my daughters 8th birthday we had a "Fishing Derby" We had it at our summer cottage at the lake, but you could have it at a state park just as easily. Invitations were printed up like a flyer inviting kids to the  1st Annual Fishing Derby.  Kids were asked to bring a pole if they had one and their bathing suits and towels. We provided the bait Lunch was hot dogs-burgers- and PBJ's  Each child recieved an award (painted wooden medal on a ribbon) awards were --youngest fisherman--smallest fish--1st fish caught--biggest fish-- most fish--1st frog caught--etc. Goodie bags consisted of any gummi worms-bugs-bait type candy and of course swedish fish.  All the kids also recieved a live goldfish with fish food as a party favor. Pictures were taken of everyone with their catch, I scrapbooked a page on the computer printed it up and sent them out as thank yous.  This was a lot of fun for the kids and quite easy to do.
