My son is four years old and loves fishing. For his birthday, he wanted to go fishing at the park. We invited 18 of his closest friends to meet us at a local park and reminded them to bring
their fishing poles. Trey wanted a cake in the shape of a goldfish, so I gave him that. We made sandwiches and cut them into different fish shapes--starfish, seahorse, goldfish, crab,
etc.--with cookie cutters. We also served Goldfish snacks to go with the sandwiches. I set up two blow up swimming pools--one with water holding live minnows, and the other with dirt and
worms. We played games with these--first, all the children had to dig through the dirt to catch worms to fish with. The child with the most worms won a small gift. Then, they had to try to
catch a minnow for a grab bag. They had lots of fun fishing and playing with the minnows and worms. We also had a "jumper" for those who did not like to fish. Not many children used
it though. They were too busy with the other things.
