Pancake Party When our son was 2 all he would eat for breakfast was pancakes. In fact, he wanted them for every meal.
So, we decided to have a pancake party. Since he was too young, we couldn't have a sleepover, so we had all our guests arrive at 9 am wearing their pajamas. For the invitations I took a picture of my son eating a huge stack of pancakes and put it on the front. I made tons of pancakes beforehand - plain, blueberry, chocolate chip and kept them warm in the oven until we were ready to eat. We had OJ, milk, and plenty of coffee for the adults. Since he was so young, we only played one game- pin the pancake on the plate. For favors we bought 2oz. bottles of pure maple syrup from a website (from Vermont). I made labels to put on the the bottles that said, "_____'s Pancake Party" and the date. We also made small bags (we used cellophane goodie bags) of just-add-water pancake mix and put a label with the directions on it. Lastly, each child received a book that had something to with pancakes. For this, we simply went to amazon and looked up "pancake" under children's books. Eric Carle's "Pancakes, Pancakes" "If you give a Pig a Pancake", "Pancakes for Breakfast", etc. The kids really got a kick out of seeing the adults in their PJ's and the adults were glad that their whole Saturday wasn't taken up. It was all wrapped up by noon! The only downside - getting up early to make tons of pancakes! Looking back I think maybe we should have made them ahead of time and frozen them. The thank you's were pictures of each child and their stack of pancakes.
