We had a candy birthday for our two-year old daughter. Since her birthday was right after Valentine's day, there were lots of fun candies to choose from. I made little cards on my computer that said "A 'sweet' little girl is turning two.  Come and help us celebrate!@" I added the time, place, RSVP, etc.  I used lollipop clip art to fill in the spaces, and I attached them to a spiral lollipop with curling ribbon.  Using pastel pink, blue, yellow and purple, I decorated the house with streamers and helium-filled balloons.  I spray-painted cardboard cake rounds (different sizes), attached them to dowels and wrapped them in cellophane to look like giant lollipops and placed them around the house.  I also spray-painted styrofoam balls (different sizes) and wrapped them in cellophane to look like giant candies and put them all over.  For the table, I bought a lilac plastic tablecloth and put jelly bellies, candy hearts (from Valentine's day) and gum drops all over.  We used blue, pink and yellow plates, cups and napkins. We also had little dishes of candies on the coffe tables and the lunch table. The house looked fabulous! When people arrived, they each got a candy necklace to wear (and eat).  I made a big pressed picnic sandwich for the grown-ups, along with a fruit tray and a veggie tray. For the kids, I cut bread into shapes with cookie cutters and put out cheese, meat, peanut butter, jam, etc. for them to make their own sandwiches (with their parents help, of course).  After lunch, we had cookie decorating.  I made lollipop cookies - sugar cookies baked onto lollipop sticks with the centre cut out and filled with crushed candies.  The candy melted in the oven and made a lollipop centre for the cookie.  I bought tubes of icing and sprinkles for the kids to decorate the cookies (all within the colour scheme). After cookie decorating, we did a candy hunt - we hid pastel coloured jawbreakers around the house and the kids each got a bag (with jellybeans printed on it) to collect the candies in. We had a cake made for us.  It was in the shape of a little girl (with blonde hair and blue eyes just like our daughter) licking a lollipop. For take-home bags, I filled the same jelly bean bags with different kinds of candies, a twisty straw and a personalised package of pencils (for the boys) or necklace (for the girls) and tied it with curling ribbon. They also got to take home their jawbreakers and cookies.  Despite the fact that the kids left on a huge sugar high, it was a huge hit, and the everyone had a wonderful time!
