I have always created parties for my eight year old son that are just over the top!
I love doing this. I have searched for a party theme for the show "WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE". No company has created it yet! My son loves to watch the show with me and we have the hand held game that is out and we also have the board game. I always try to pick themes for his birthday party for whatever he is interested in the moment. Last year was army party, because he loved setting up his army men. That is a completely different story. This year I was able to talk to his principal and ask for the Auditorium. They are providing the chairs, stage and PA system for free. Of course, I am always volunteering at the school for this perk. We have a local hockey team who did at half court the same theme. I was able to research the man who built the stage and his company is setting it up for $100.00. I have purchased bubble gum coins, chocolate coins, fake money and all sorts of fun millionaire dollar bills. I have probably paid about $30.00. I found a local grocery store that can take a picture of anything and put it upon the cake top. They are going to photograph a good replica of a million dollar bill. They will also drop into the cake before baking it coins that I received uncirculated from the bank. Just pennies, nickels, dimes and a few quarters. I have asked my banker to come talk to the children about the need to save. She is providing Looney Tune Quarter savings accounts and will speak to the children about how a Penney earned is a Penney saved. (or these days, how a quarter saved is a quarter earned). We are cutting a sapling from our property and placing into our Christmas tree holder. Instead of anyone purchasing presents, we ask anyone who can afford a present wrap their dollars with a rubberband on the limbs. I have invited children who are not normally allowed to go to birthday parties for their families finances and made sure they are not contributing. What our family, and friends will provide will be for Alex's first savings account. I hope this will be helpful for anyone else who wants to do a "WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE" PARTY!!!
