it was for my 2 year old we had it in april and it's in te beginning so where we live it was still nippy outdoors. we had it inside. I made ahead of time decorated flowerpots. i bought flower
pots for 50 cents apeice at walmart. i then spray painted them in flat white , when they were dry i used paint pens to make bumble-bee's and lady bugs on them...it was really easy, if you
arent sue how to draw them look in childrens books, or maybe online, i made sort of a dash - - - - trail behind them like the bee's from winnie the pooh. i wrote each childs name on the rim
of the pots. then i bought little cellophane goody bags in a garden bug theme . i put a little amount of easter grass in the bottom of them and filled platic eggs with gummy worms and
jellybeans. i put a packet of sweetpea flower seeds in each because thats her birth month flower but adjust according to your childs birthday. and at toys are us i bought for 99 cents apeice
little tikes plastic garden shovels , everyone got a sheet of buggystickers, then i tied the bags with natural colored raffia to tie in with the whole gardeny-bug theme. the children also got
to wear and take home foam bug masks i ordered ahead of time very inexpensively from oriental trading. i made a simple butterfly cake using a large round cake pan i had bought form a wedding
supply place it took two boxes of cake mix in the large pan . and i made cupcakes too. when they were cool i took the round cake and cut it in half
i went right down the middle in a zig-zag pattern i then got my platter for th cake and put the four cup cakes in the center then i put each cut half on either side of th cupcakes and whala a butterfly. i then used white icing and iced the whole thing . i then took edible glitter in hot pink and purple and yellow and sprinkled i all over it was very glittery i then took brite jewel toned jelly beans and placedthem at the tips of the wings i wrote her name in pink gel icing down the cupcake body part. then for antenae i used shoe string liqorice in black. it was the easiest cake and i got the most compliments. since i had a large amount of children there i tinted the white icing green and iced the remaining cupcakes and set them on a platter ontop of easter grass in a row to look like a caterpillar i put jelly beans down the centers in the row i again used the licorice this time as leggs sticking out of the cupcakes. we played spin the bug a game from kaybee toy store it runs on batteries it's great for toddlers you push the button on it' back and it spins and says phrases like beetle says pat your head! it was so fun this party! you could go all out and buy matching bug plated and cups i just used complimenting solids. i bought some mylar balloons with the bugs and butterflys on them. and some regular latex in the colors.. if you had older childrn you could incorporate wings too. i love planning my daughter's birthday parties best wishes!
