We had a halloween party for my three children ages 4,4,and 2. We invited about 20 kids ages 2-5. Invitations: I actually found a great invitation at I party shaped like a trick or treat bag with an insert to take out with all the party details. We started the party at 3:00pm due to the young ages of the children. Decorations: We decorated the outside of the house with lights and I made 4 foot ghosts on stakes to line my front walkway leading to the door, pumpkins on the front steps and lots of halloween signs. Nothing to scary again because of the ages. Inside I continued the theme of fun decorations with hanging witches and ghosts. Banners and hallway danglers. We had the party in our large finished basement and decorated the bar with lots of webs and lights. We have a large built in fish tank which is currently empty so I decorated it with a motion treasure box that opens to reveal a skeleton pirate (purchased at michaels craft store) I also had lots of webs and fake candles lit. It was the scariest display we had. All the tables were decorated with festive coverings and centerpieces. lit pumpkins, spiders, haunted mansion, the usual halloween fare. We kept the lights low and played halloween music throughout the house that we downloaded from itunes. Activities: Everyone was greeted at the door by me dressed as Cinderella. They were then taken to a room with a craft table and lots of halloween decorations. I had foamie withces calderones and Frankenstein pieces with stickers to match for the girls and boys to do while we waited for all the guests to arrive. Once everyone arrived all the parents went downstairs and I leaded all of our halloween dressed guests in a costume parade with halloween music through the house downstairs to the party! the kids loved it. Once downstairs the kids ran around checking out all the decorations and treats all around. I placed orange and black mini buckets with twizzlers and gummie worms, and candy corn for all to enjoy. For the games I bought plastic pumpkin buckets at the dollar store and put each childs name on it for the prizes they won. I had a large orange posterboard shaped like a pumpkin and black triangles and blindfold for pin the face on the pumpkin. Then we had a table with covered black calderones for surprise buckets. One was filled with cooked spagetti, one with rubber eyeballs and one with jello squares. Each child could take turns putting their hands in to guess what it was. Messy but fun.A box of wipes came in handy. Another game I bought packages of foamie ghosts and glued them to popsicle sticks and had the kids kneel on a backwards chair and they had three ghosts to drop into a black caldrone. Then for the last game and the best. I had all the kids sit in a circle and with help from one of the dads who also came dressed up I had again a black calderone filled with pumpkin foamies for a trick or treat game. I wrote trick on some and treat on the others. Each child had a turn coming up to the bucket to pick if they picked a treat ghost they picked a prize from the prize calderone if the picked a trick ghost I had written cute things for them to do. Example: let us hear your scariest halloween scream, do a frankenstein walk, cackel like a witch, do a silly halloween dance, BOO like a ghost. the kids were actually upset when they picked a treat ghost they loved doing the tricks!! What a hit. Food: for the kids we had mini hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls, mini cheddar meatballs, chips, mac and cheese and a big black calderone filled with halloween juice boxes! For the adults we had a big crockpot with chili and all the fixins, assorted calzones and adult mac and cheese. For dessert I made cupcakes decorated like witches with oreo cones as hats, green faces and big noses with curly black hair. I also made a broomstick shaped cake and surrounded it with the cupcakes on a big platter. We had cookies and brownies as well. Not to mention all the halloween candy. The prizes were assorted stickers, pencils, notepads, rubber ghosts, spider rings, gummie candy. all with the halloween theme. At the end of the party I had a big calderone filled with goody bags for everyone with homeade pumpkin crayons, stickers and candy. Over all everyone had a great time and we can't wait for next year!
