Halloween is always a huge event in our home as we have twin boys that are actually born on Halloween. We always have a Halloween/Birthday party and our friend and family have come to
expect the unexpected. This year we decided to focus on the children and have the focus be games.
We will decorate the back yard with corn stalks, bales of hay for seating and mums around. We will set up stations for all the games in the back yard. The stations will include 1.Pumpkin Bowling (this will be set up on the driveway for easy rolling and the kids can choose small pumpkins or squash to knock down the pins, each child will have 3 tries and everyone gets a small prize after they finish) 2.Pumpkin Decorating (there will be a table set up for the children to decorate their own pumpkins, I purchased glue, markers, feathers, pom poms, googly eyes etc so they can express their artistic talents) 3.Ghost Lollipop tree (I purchased tootsie roll pops and wrapped a white cirle piece of fabric around them and tied them with a small piece of orange ribbon and put eyes on the ghost, I then put black dots on half of the lollipops. I bought a styrofoam cone at the craft store and poked all the ghosts in the "tree". The children will each choose a ghost from the tree-if it has a black dot on the bottom they will get a small prize and the pop and if it doesn't have a dot they get to keep the pop. 4.Donuts on A String (we will hang strings from the monkey bars on our swing set and attach donuts, I will refrigerate the donuts first so they don't fall apart and have found Entemann's works well for this game) 5.Cupcake Decorating (we will set up a table with frosting, sprinkles, candy corn, etc. and let them decorate.. after they are finished I will place their cupcake on a small plate and write their name on it. We will all eat them together later in the party after we sing Happy Birthday to the birthday boys. 6.Wort on the Witch ( I bought a simple witch decoration that a will hang on a board. I also bought rubber cement that I will make into worts and the children will each have a chance to put the wort on the witch. Everyone will get a small prize after this game) 7.Face Painting (My friend will be set up at a small table to do simple face painting. She wil have a paper with four things the kids can choose from, a bat, a pumpkins, a ghost or a witches hat) Each game will have a poster board with the name of the game and a black and orange ballon hanging at the station. Since we have about 25 kids coming I am hoping that each child can rotate from game to game so there will only be about 5 children at each station. After the games are over we will move to the deck for food. My menu will include: Hot Dogs and Sausage (I rented a Dogaroo machine for this) Sauteed Peppers And Onions ( I will put this in a chafing dish to keep warm) Chicken Wings (I will put this in the other end of the chafing dish) Chili (in crock pot) Scewered Fruit in a Pumpkin (this is really cute) Punch (green punch with gingerale) I put this in a bowl and then put the bowl in a black plastic cauldron pot with dry ice.. this is a really cool effect) Cider (hot and cold) Hot Chocolate Munchies (bowls of green and orange tortilla chips, popcorn, chips etc in cool halloween bowls) Spiderweb Cheesecake (for the adults, I will buy a plain cheesecake and with a fine tip chocolate decorator I will make a spiderweb on top) Schedule: Game Stations Food Cupcakes Presents Good luck!
