Halloween Party Sleepover for 9-10 year old girls.
There were six girls including my daughter. We set up one room with 3 queen size beds so they were all able to sleep together. The decorations were more fun than scary. Party started at 5:30 due to some soccer conflicts. Snacks before dinner were Pigs in a blanket with ketchup (Lumberjacks Fingers) & Homemade Pumpkin Seeds. We had a Halloween Hologram on the TV when the kids arrived. We also had a C.D. set up in another room with Halloween music. First activity was bobbing for apples with a twist. We had red & green apples. Each child got to bob for two apples, the ones who got a green one won a prize (every child). The prizes were things I picked up at Big Lots for very little money. Karaoke came next while dinner was being made. Dinner consisted of meatballs and spaghetti. (The meatballs had a lovely green tinge of food coloring and the spaghetti was bright orange). I left the milk and peas alone. After dinner they played a game where they had teams of 3 each sucking Reeses pieces on the end of a straw and depositing them into a bowl. The team with the highest number of pieces in the bowl at the end of a minute won. The winners got small prizes and both teams got to eat the Reese's pieces. We bought sugar cookie dough and the kids cut out the shapes they wanted (we had a ghost, pumpkin & bat). We cooked them and then they decorated them with squeezable icing & assorted candy decorations). The next game was lots of fun. They divided into two teams (we picked all the teams at first with numbers and the following morning we just combined kids who hadn't been together the night before). Each team were given identical pieces of fabric (bought closeouts at the fabric store). They were each given velcro, safety pins and scissors. They were then told that they had 45 minutes to make either 1,2 or 3 outfits. They had a blast! One team made an evening ensemble complete with hair ties, neck scarf and wrist band. The other team did kind of a street chic look with fringes, ripped pieces of fabric pinned on etc. Next came dessert which was alternating lime, orange & grape jello in a parfait glass. They ate their Halloween cookies then too. We started to wind down for bedtime by doing MadLibs and then reading some not too scary stories. The next morning my husband made breakfast. He wasn't into food coloring so breakfast was pretty normal. We also had snacks for late morning that included cheese sticks, pita, pineapples, veggies and punch. The morning games were mummy wraps. We had three teams with two rolls of toilet paper each. The one who got their mummy wrapped first won. Then we reversed it and played it again. The last big event was a scavenger hunt. We divided the girls into two teams and told them they a)needed to go to different houses, b)couldn't get more than 3 items at any house, c)had to stay together. There were 16 items on the list. It took about 45 minutes to collect everything. They loved it! The list included things like any newspaper with the word Halloween, any picture of a black cat (one of our neighbors actually drew a black cat for them) and lots of other items. They weren't all Halloween things. We had planned to have them jump in leaves and look for things we had hidden there. But, the night before all the leaves blew away (good for us, bad for the neighbors). Lastly, we had Spongebob cartoons ready. But, they never got to it. They went home at about noon on Halloween. A good time truly was had by all.
