Halloween Birthday Party.
My daughter's birthday is just after Halloween. We have had two Halloween Birthday Parties for her - - For her 8th and 10th Birthdays. Here are some of the ideas we had. They had to wear a costume to enter. We make the cakes ourselves ... 1 round cake cut into the shape of a cat's head, and 1 round cake cut into triangles decorated as mice. The next year the cake was a grave with a headstone made of cardboard (birthday girls name on it). Coconut dyed green (food dye) was the grass, and Oreo cookie ground up was the mound. For the candles I used a Halloween candle of a hand plus extra small ones. I also used some old bat cupcake decorations around the tombstone. We had made Halloween cookies and tied them from the ceiling in the basement with a sheet underneath, put on a cool song (monster mash) and they had to eat their cookie with their hands behind their back. The birthday girl got a camera to take pictures of this event. We made a "Haunted House" in part of our basement. We bought a roll of Huge black plastic material. Taped it to the ceiling and floor, making 3 separate rooms. We used many black lights and glow in the dark Halloween decorations and a strobe light at the beginning. In the last room we made a dummy in a rocking chair with one of us making it rock. They had a blast going through the "Haunted House many times! The next party when they were older and it was nice outside, we went on a Haunted Walk in the weeds/woods behind our house. Before the kids came over we placed a flashlight at certain points in the woods. We turned them on just before the walk. We told a scary story of a young girl of long ago in the woods. Different things happened in the story at each light. We started the walk with only 2 flashlights, but gained one at each stopping point. Believe it or not we saw a real owl in one of the trees. The girls thought we had put it there!! We ended up at our shed. All the girls thought someone would be hiding inside to scare them. We had my nephew come from another part of the yard to do that. Other things we did were truth or dare, dancing, pizza, hunt for the candy.
